So is Jessica Jones the best Marvel series on Netflix or what?

Season 1 only, though. Season 2 was ... not great.

Still better than the other Defenders.

The Punisher storyline in Daredevil Season 2, and pretty much all of Daredevil Season 3, were also better than JJ Season 2.

Re: To Infinity War and Beyond: the MCU Thread with Spoilers
YMMV
I can't speak to season 3 because I stopped watching after season 2 because the show was all suck. The Punisher storyline may have been the best part of season 2 but it was still suck.

Most of the Marvel Netflix series had awesome first seasons. Most of them declined in their second seasons. Jessica Jones had a truly epic first season, and a second season that was...well, not painful to watch, but decidedly meh.

Re: To Infinity War and Beyond: the MCU Thread with Spoilers
mrs lunch hated that part because it basically put a bell on how awful the MCU has been with female characters, and pints out how Wonder Woman was the only good female superhero movie. (We didn’t get to see Captain Marvel before Endgame though)thoreau wrote:Since it's impossible to actually do a time travel plot that makes sense, I prefer time travel plots that only violate their rules for nice character moments instead of world-saving plot twists.
It was a blatantly obvious pandering moment, but if I complain about that outside of this forum I'll either be in some icky company or I'll be pissing off some otherwise-reasonable friends. So I'm just leaving it alone.Oh man, I hated that. At first it was awesome when it was a half-dozen major characters, then they had every single female fighter in it, and it was gratuitous and nonsensical. How did they all get there from every corner of the battlefield? It was pandering and a fuck you to DC, and it really took me out of the movie.Hugh Akston wrote: ↑27 Apr 2019, 00:31 Really enjoyed the Bad Bitches lineup during the epic final battle.
So if you want to criticize it you can always criticize it for being an insufficient apology for their past misogyny and then slip in the plot convenience playhouse aspect to show that it was calculated and not earned.

Dark Phoenix was okay but supremely forgettable. It would have been better if the screentime they wasted on the aliens angle was devoted to the family dynamics that ended up being the real focus anyway. B+ Cyclops action.

Re: To Infinity War and Beyond: the MCU Thread with Spoilers
I've been trying to watch Jessica Jones season 3 but it's boring so far. I know they set the villain bar very, very high with Killgrave but this current pasty smarmy murder dude is not scary or interesting AT ALL. And like, he tried (or hired someone?) to kill the headache dude but stabbed Jessica by mistake? And yet is going on and on about how he's sooooooo smart?
And speaking of headache dude, it almost seems like they're trying to play his sister for laughs? LIke, "haha, she's a druggie hooker and she's SUCH A HANDFUL!" Ew.
Meanwhile Trish is a complete snoozefest and Jeri's predicament is not something I'm interested in watching. Malcolm suddenly being cutthroat and amoral is interesting but I don't really understand why he's being like that or what he's trying to accomplish.
Sal the gambling lady reminded me of Mags from Justified. I liked Mags better.

Hey I forgot about JJ. I'll just take this opportunity to complain again about waiting over a year for a 13 episode "season".Ellie wrote: ↑02 Jul 2019, 00:25 I've been trying to watch Jessica Jones season 3 but it's boring so far. I'm only four episodes in, but I'm digging it. Complete opposite take. The murder dude was just revealed. He seems scary and interesting to me. Haven't met headache dude's sister yet. But I'm team Super Trish. Best the character has ever been. So much better than clingy, needy, celebrity Trish. Malcolm turning to the dark side is snoozefest. And Jeri is girl on girl action! That never gets old.

I'm also enjoying JJ season 3. I like the Malcolm and Jeri storylines, but I am 100% into Superdeluded Trish. I also think stab-man is the kind of villain that fits more into Jessica's antagonists from the comics. My one complaint so far is if you're going to pay off your bookie who has a history of tying you to weights and throwing you in the pool, maybe bring a knife with you?
