You're thinking of the Founders. The GOP doesn't want to assimilate anybody.

The Picard show has me interested. We'll see.Jennifer wrote: ↑29 Jun 2019, 15:30 I gave up on Star Trek: Discovery only a few episodes into the first season, and have paid no attention to further Trek offerings or reboots since. If they ARE going to do more stories, I wish they'd focus on sequels or next-gen stories, rather than prequel after prequel after prequel. (And if they are absolutely determined to do prequels in lieu of followups, then instead of "This Starfleet Captain: the Younger Years" and "That Other Starfleet Captain: In High School" and "First Childhood Friendship of A Given Bridge Officer on the Enterprise" and so on, I'd rather see stuff like "The Borg: How TF Did THEY Get Started?")

The Episode 1 podcast does Star Trek. Funny stuff. Warren will hate it.

Weird thing I've noticed about Aron Eisenberg remembrances; many people really liked the Great Material Continuum speech and the episode surrounding it. Even typical "beyond money" wannabe full-auto-robotic-communism folks like it.

Always enjoy RLM. I hadn't seen anything about the Picard show. Boy does that sound awful.
Re: Star Trek Wankery
Thought the second episode was a lot better. Still a bit slow (they should be in space by now), and the editing is pretty shit (cutting back and forth between short scenes of different groups of characters kills momentum). The antagonists' motivations could turn out to be pretty lame.
Saw a comment that I thought rang true, which was that if the season doesn't build towards, and conclude with, a more optimistic, trad Trek vision, then it will probably be relegated to Discovery level irrelevance, even if it's much better.

I'm not going to watch it. But I'll keep watching the RLM reviews as long as they keep making them. Good stuff.
