Before we take this conversation any further, are we talking transit trains, or porn trains?
I'm kind of disappointed that it wasnt warren who went there.
Honestly I would have put money on Ellie being the one to go there.

Getting where I want to go without having to pay attention to the road, able to read, less lurching and staring and stopping than a bus. Mostly better clientele than a bus.
I was teasing you about the moral scold story you told on another thread. About how the scold jumped in to ruin someone's enthusiasm. Sorry.
How dare you discourage use of public transit, Pham!!!!!!!

There are nice trains in some other countries. Even Russia had very civilized train service by comparison to Amtrak, an admittedly very low bar to have to cross.

I'd actually looked at pricing Amtrak for a trip to Georgia to visit a friend, and it was reasonably priced (and no longer routed through Chicago). I did wonder how bad the experience would be in a sleeper...

Oh man, I never thought about it before, but Apollo missions are a great setup for pornos. Three guys crammed into a tight space together, 70s soundtrack ... I'm into that 🤣

Today is Freedom Day for Jeff: two week after his second shot. Today he's planning to get a professional haircut, visit a certain comic-book store, pick up some barbecue and a few other things. Tomorrow, he and a local vaccinated-but-carless friend are going to visit some of the local secondhand bookstores, plus a handful of thrift shops which tend to have better-than-average book offerings, and maybe the Ollie's which always has remaindered graphic novels.

I'm rather hungry right now but I'm not going to eat anything, because Jeff is supposed to be bringing barbecue home in celebration, though I don't know what time he'll get here. He's already had his first professional haircut in 14 months.

(Headsmack) I've been seeing Swarovski ads on every website I visit (my own fault; a few nights ago, I checked out of idle curiosity to see if they'd gone back to selling 'personal hobby' figurines, which they have not), and just now saw, on Facebook, an ad for Swarovski-encrusted face masks (for $59 each, with free standard shipping for orders over $75).

Here's what the ad copy says:
Embellished with an assortment of crystals, this reusable Swarovski mask is made from highly breathable fabric in an eye-catching blue print. The elastic straps are adjustable. Designed for non-medical purposes only. Not intended to replace any medical equipment or PPE. Not intended for children. Can be washed up to 20 times at 60°C using a gentle cycle. Please see the accompanying leaflet for further details and care instructions. FOR HYGIENE REASONS THIS ITEM CANNOT BE RETURNED ONCE UNPACKED.
Given that you're supposed to wash a mask after every time you wear it, when I see "can be washed up to 20 times," what I hear is "Can be worn up to 20 times, after which point it becomes useless."

After the shot, where do you go for the 15-minute observation period -- do they send you to park in a given area?

The exit lane was all people waiting 15 minutes, with National Guard people walking by to make sure nobody had slumped over. (Or for being flagged down, since they said to do so if anything felt wrong, last time. I rolled my window down and one young guy was instantly there.)

What the fuck with this breathless tone? Coming from a publication which regularly interviews hookers and drug dealers?

It's not like they're even hard to fake. I mean, mine is a paper card with plain text stickers and a person's writing on it. Whoop-de-do.

Yeah, my 'vaccination card' looks like a loyalty card from a corner coffee shop. I was expecting at least a QR code.
