A song for Thoreau to write new and more specific lyrics for, perhaps. ;)

A random song that I found myself trying to figure out where I heard it. (A "new music" indie compilation from the Aughts, it turned out.)

Part of my opposition to the term Wuhan virus is the fact that every time I read “Wuhan” I immediately hear Busta Rhymes rapping, “Yah, yah, yah, yah, yah”

This is why I love you and your black black heart. That and your hatred of Liz Bruenig.

I've had the Verve Pipe Freshman song in my head since T posted it a couple days ago.

AL1CE, "Waiting for You"

Live version from the other night that I actually like better; maybe a production thing on the album version.

"Love is Forever" by AL1CE

Closer to their live versions than some of their other tracks (one good example, with a bit of patter), being it's one of their dreamier songs.

Apparently, at least once the Danish National Symphony Orchestra did a performance of soundtrack music from various classic Western movies. Their rendition of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly has been burrowing through my head most of the day.

Easy disproof of the hoary old "music is the universal language" idea: find people unfamiliar with this piece, have them listen to it blind, and then have them describe what it's about. Then see what 0.00x% of them come up with "mother telling daughter to kill someone or be disowned".

Well yeah. It's the Magic Flute. You're not going to guess any of that without a Universal Translator.
Even so, I love a soprano that can hit those notes clean.

X, "Los Angeles". NSFW and one of those songs you'll want the windows up in your car for, but earwormy.

Also file under "brilliantly cheap videos". I think the director just said, "Let's take a day-trip to Shanghai."

Well exactly. I question the purpose of this thread unless to drive us all more thoroughly (thoreau-ly?) insane.

Will not read thread. Will not...shit.

I think I disliked this song back in the day, not as bad as I remember, harmless little catchy pop song stuck in my head. Catchy and the lyrics seem so timely with a little adjustment of a couple lines.

For twelve strange months
I had no obligations
My mind was a blur
I did not know what to do
I think I lost myself
When I lost my motivation
Now I'm walking 'round the city
Just waiting for normal

So, I put together a list of 80s songs for a younger friend. Of all the earwormy songs involved, this is the one stuck in my head:

"Better that ten guilty persons escape than that one innocent suffer."
