That would be surprising because I suspect it generates a substantial percentage of the site's hits. They're revamping the entire site this weekend and warned about delays and disruption.

What I find most interesting is the addition of the "report spam or abuse" flag. They've always made a point of being for all practical purposes moderation-free, and I have to think they are not naive about wading into those waters, but still. Do they *really* know what that's going to take and how unpleasant it will be while every troll in the star system tests the limits?

Do you really think anyone at Reason will actually look at the reports?dead_elvis wrote: ↑13 Apr 2019, 21:28 What I find most interesting is the addition of the "report spam or abuse" flag. Wait, that announcement doesn't have a comments section. Where can we go to complain about threaded comments now?

Perhaps. But I believe HnR started around 01. The Grylliade was what? I want to say 05. So we've got a few years before we're older than HnR at it's passing.

Which is not, of course, what "outlasted" meant in that context, but yeah. Frankly, at first I thought it was a mistake and I still think it would be better to include more of the body of articles in the "Latest" stream, but it's otherwise pretty much the same thing and I stopped reading comments years ago.
ETA: I doubt the The Volokh Conspiracy gang will be happy with the change effectively lumping them into the mix that way, though.

I draw a complete blank on other media outlets that still have a separate "site blog", anymore. It seems kinda sad. I guess that was just an Aughts thing that got long in the tooth.

It's just so damned inconsiderate. We just created this forum and now it's anachronized already.
