Re: Earworm Infestations

Aw shit, I got the dreaded Do do do do, do do do do, do do do do, do do do do stuck in my head. Not only that but I made the mistake of realizing when that song came out so now on top of the earworm torture I feel old. Harrumph.

This is funny: I'm sure Def Leppard think that they are successfully slagging Jim Steinman, and I'm sure it was actually a crappy fit, but they manage to come off like they were a lousy band that didn't have a vision of their own and expected someone else to do the work of making them better than th...

OK, it's National Hippo Day. But otherwise I don't see the significance. (I'm sure it's not because of President's Day.)

Watched Mulholland Falls, and in looking up the *real* star of the movie, discovered that that curvaceous beauty is for sale, alas at $99k a little too rich for my blood. Wanna go halvesies? Splendid idea- I'll have to keep in in SoCal though, I mean we couldn't risk it getting damaged by tornados ;)

Just finished slogging through The Flight Attendant. Imagine North by Northwest, but 1/3rd of the run time is spent in internal dialog and flashbacks to Cary Grant's childhood and why he is an alcoholic, sprinkled throughout so as to constantly interrupt. Kaley Cuoco and her character are annoying a...

From an article about USians struggling with a property in Baja that was owned by someone who died in 2007 without a will, sparking a battle that seems to be ending with people losing the ability to enjoy "their" resort "property" (quotes because people are warned all the time about the murkiness ar...

Can confirm. I liked Dark Star, but it was a slow burn. Wife left early in the movie. I decided to finish for the sake of finishing but it kept getting better and better through the end.

I've always held that the *actual* martyrs/heros for democracy, or our civil rights, however you want to put it, are people who are victims of criminals who were let off because we insisted on enforcing those rights. Anyone who has been subsequently murdered by someone let off on a technicality shou...

Mission creep is quite the understatement, but an interesting note is that this would *also* benefit the rural poor, maybe even more. There are post offices in some pretty BFE places that would have both poor people, poor internet, and few if any bank branches.
