Re: What are you drinking?
Ah, please keep sharing your findings! In my drinking days I was never a cocktails person, I just wanted to chug it down as fast as possible, but now that I'm sober I wish I had something "fancy" to drink sometimes (especially on nights where it feels like everyone on my social media is posting pict...

Re: No Sandwich is Safe: The Joe Biden Presidency
Speaking of big differences, I just realized four kids at $300/month/kid literally doubles my income, so, uh, sorry if I'm not TOO mad about the idea

Re: No Sandwich is Safe: The Joe Biden Presidency
It's like, the water is still there, but you go from it being up to your chest to having it be waist high. Low enough that you can sit down sometimes. Makes for a big relief. Oh, for sure. I misread the tweet and thought I saw something about "lifting children out of poverty" and was being unfairly...

Re: No Sandwich is Safe: The Joe Biden Presidency
Fan though I am of providing relief and safety nets via direct cash in pockets, I don't really see how that really solves the problem; maybe edge cases, but I don't think you can lift a child out of poverty for $3,600/year. It helps, sure, but how much quality of life does $300/month buy? Though obv...

Re: The capitol insurrection and its aftermath
Did anybody see the thread on Twitter about how for security's sake you have to assume there were foreign agents in amongst the rioters? (I can't find it at the moment). They were pointing out how many places in the Capitol they would have had unsupervised access to and for how long, and how many th...

Re: The Right Way to View Competing Political Horrors
This was massive lawlessness. There aren't fifty patrol cars and half the PD out on one street on any give night of the year. Police presence is a very poor metric to use for crime/damage in this case. They weren't out there in response to 911 calls. They were out there preemptively, looking to sta...

Re: Petty annoyances
I do like Facebook's "snooze for 30 days" feature for groups like that. I'm in a bunch where I like the content but it quickly becomes annoying and repetitive, so I snooze it, forget it, and then get to enjoy it afresh a month later before getting annoyed again.

I looked up the rules for kids in the front seat and started reading more about airbags and now I'm frankly terrified by them.

This all sounds terrible. I'm not a soda/Coke guy though. Not really since college or before. It's a pre-puberty thing. I mixed well into my third decade. Of course, I just started shaving last week. I wonder if I'd still be making suicides if I hadn't embarked on 20 years of dieting followed by di...

We were more lax in my area; any combination of three or more counted. And yes, you would ALWAYS take an experimental sip and then add more of one soda (or as we called it, of course, pop) to adjust the flavor

Re: 2020 Status Check
It's something about - I don't think this is actually an elites issue. There's a bottom upness to the idea that whatever your team says is the best thing at all times. Lots of people want it that way. They want to specify the outcome they desire and they want to use cudgels to get you there and wha...

Re: Food
Hell, I've seen 9-year-olds putting half the drinks available in their cups, then sipping and adding a touch of one or two more. I have no idea what that tastes like, but they like it. Around where I grew up this was called "a suicide" (I have no idea why). I got fountain drinks that way for well p...
