Re: Masculinity, so fragile
Alls I know is that Sheryl Sandberg, Ronda Rousey, or any given member of the US Women's National Soccer Team is way more competitive, aggressive, and violent than a wiener like me will ever be. Yes, but you recognize that because they are competitive, aggressive and violent in stereotypically male...

Re: Epiphanies
My conclusion, judging from what I see online, is that the more performatively feminist a man is the more likely it is he's a sexual predator. It's catnip for sociopathic guys who want to abuse women. So basically the wokelib version of the rabid anti-gay preacher who gets caught balls deep in a re...

I'm listening to an absurd amount of Chelsea Wolfe lately. Seems like good Halloween music.

Re: Petty annoyances
I burned the back side of my elbow on a heat gun doing Halloween decorations. I was previously unacquainted with 2d degree burns. This is annoying as hell, and not helped by the fact I have to use a mirror or my phone to actually see what is happening with it.

Re: And Then There Were Four (The Impeachment Thread)
Doesn't matter what the House does, no way the Senate votes for impeachment. Of course, I am a shitty political prognosticator with a very low correct percentage. So if they do impeach Trump, then we get President Pence. Has anybody really thought that one through? Trump is not , for all his faults,...

The school won’t let the kids walk to the cars because safety. But they will, if you consent, let your kid walk or ride his bike home... because safety? HISD, as near as I can tell, does not offer bus service for the most part. So between the cluelessness of the school staff and the entitled parents...

Christ, but these Montessori hippies can’t run a school pick-up line worth a rat’s ass. The ghetto school across the way where the tr0gling was last year was bastly more organized than these clowns.

Re: Petty annoyances
Everybody in my house but me (so far, knock on wood) has a lifelong incurable condition that requires medication. Unfortunately, it's medication with a "high potential for abuse". So that means I can't get anything more than 30 days worth at a time. So once a month, somebody has to schlep on over to...

We have a City Council member who is finally term limited out after a scrolling years in office. The world is gunning for this seat. One candidate is using a green skyline for her logo and is named Mary Jane Smith. She seems tailor-made to be the 420 candidate, but no, bog standard stealth republica...

Re: Dancing With the Dems
This is horribly cynical of me (big surprise) but some of these goobers know, in their heart of hearts, they aren’t gonna be the nom. They also know they aren’t getting the VP slot, a cabinet position, or any other of the usual rewards from the party. This suggests they are in it for personal enrich...

I have given people speeds in furlongs per fortnight before. If I ask you what units you want your answer in, don’t tell me to pick. I have MathCad and a weird sense of humor.

So, I need (for stupid reasons I'm not getting into) to install linux on an old box. I need a graphical interface, a VPN and a web browser. What's my best bet for a distro in terms of least fuss/muss? When setup, it will be used by the borderline technically illiterate.

Re: Random Observations C.A (306 pages is enough)
At any rate math is not "culturally constructed" and even if nothing is "timeless, universal & true" that doesn't mean everything is equally true. There's only few things I'm going to cling to bitterly when it comes to knowable facts about the universe, but the three laws of thermodynamics and most...
