Moron:

Paul Krugman wrote:Well, I’m on the phone with my computer security service, and as I understand it someone compromised my IP address and is using it to download child pornography. I might just be a random target. But this could be an attempt to Qanon me.

It’s an ugly world out there.
Actual smart person:
SwiftOnSecurity wrote:Paul I think you’ve been tricked into a PC support scam

Unless you are a very wealthy person who hires one or under full-suite VIP protection services through your agent, there are no proactive security notifications like this.

I hope I’m wrong, but if I’m not you need to immediately call NYT security department as these people will often download an implant into your computer under the guise of disinfecting it. This is an emergency as your credentials and authentication tokens are exposed by this.
Actual 99.9999999% of replies to original moron:

lol you thought Krugman was a moron? wrote:This is exactly what somebody who got caught with kiddie porn would say.

A normal person wouldn’t advertise this.

Exactly what I was thinking. You know...”get out in front of the scandal” type bs.

Huh, when I read that Krugman tweet (just now), I assumed that he knew it was a scam, and he meant he might be a "random target" of the phone support scam.

On reread Swift on Security is probably right. But I definitely mentally inserted an eyeroll motion on behalf of the speaker at the end of the first sentence.

The only reason she won't go to a public park is that she hates poor people and probably also black and brown people

Also literally everything private crowds out public goods

We call those dog parks around here.

(But most (all?) of the playgrounds renovated within the last 10 years around here are indeed now fenced in.)
