I wanted to buy one of the coins, but the Gift Shop website has been down ever since this spread on Twitter.

I'm waiting for the coin with the image of a dumpster fire on it.

So the Republicans who suggested Trump deserved a Nobel for his NoKo efforts .... will they suggest the committee offer a new prize for half-assed attempts?

Also, how the hell could that summit be to the benefit of both parties, but the detriment of the world?

It hasn't stopped the Committee before.

It seems to be Trump's MO to bluster a lot for the cameras, later quietly capitulate, and then loudly declare victory. So I'm not sure if we've heard the last of this.

Dunno, but when Miller and Bannon pre-screened it, there wasn't a dry hand in the house.

JFC. I'm amazed Trump's arm isn't broken from jacking himself so hard.

Tyler Cowen is angling for a contributing role at the Federalist.

The Cowen plan for North Korea:
Step 1: Get their leader to pursue his education in Western Europe, and hang around with successful and wealthy Americans like Dennis Rodman.
Step 2: ???
Step 3: FREEDOM!!!

Un spent part of his teen years at a school in Switzerland, IIRC; when his dad first kicked the bucket I remember being naive enough to hope that maybe this would factor in Un being an improvement for his people.

But he probably never did a vacation in Singapore; that could be all the difference!

Bending over backwards to give Trump absolute-maximum benefit of the doubt here: I could see that video working to persuade some types of dictatorial people to try improving their countries (again, somewhere in the archives of this very forum are posts I made using similar arguments for why this Un guy just might, hopefully, make things better for North Koreans) -- but Un's had the reins of power long enough to indicate he purely doesn't give a shit about such things. "Prosperity?" Pfft; Un himself lives the life of a very wealthy person, including perquisites denied even the wealthiest of westerners (for example, someone like BIll Gates or Warren Buffett could surely afford to hire lots of gorgeous prostitutes for exclusive arrangements if they were so inclined, but that's not the same thing as having lots of gorgeous sex slaves who lack the option of going elsewhere), and by now it's obvious Un's concern is only for himself, not for rank-and-file NoKos. Nor does he even have one-step-removed sympathy of the sort where "I personally don't give a shit about improving their lives ... but I'd very much like the international accolades I'd get for improving their lives. So I'll make things better for my sake rather than theirs, but it so happens they'll benefit too."

The Cowen plan is what the Cowen plan always is - make a point you think is under discussed with an overly cutesy post.
