17-Year-Old Says 'I Could Buy an AR-15,' Gets Arrested
"The offense is akin to joking about a bomb in the airport," Fagan said in her message. "One simply doesn't do it."
No. It. Is. Fucking. Not.

There is no context offered for the statement, but even if it was a joke about buying one, calling the cops was unwarranted.

The thing that keeps me up at night is that the cops get away with this shit because this is precisely the shit that enjoys popular support. People Want their kids schools made safe via thuggery.
It's madness.

All the people saying the FBI dropped the ball on the kid in Florida, was he doing anything illegal that the FBI could have credibly done to stop him? The guns were obtained legally.

Investigate and find out he was planning a shooting. He would have stepped over the "attempt" line at some point and committed a crime. Potentially as early as buying the gun.

A neighbor apparently reported that he was shooting his handgun in the backyard, which is reckless endangerment, and could maybe be prosecuted-upwards if they were able to find him talking about shootings etc. But no, you can't just arrest someone and take their guns just because they're louts. I don't know what other things they were called for. But it's the local police that may've dropped the ball on that stuff. The FBI can't investigate every punk kid making bullshit statements on the internets.

Conservatives should face the facts that their measures would do as much as the "common sense" regulation. I.e. Fuck all. Arming up the schools wouldn't have done it (like the Pulse nightclub, there was a "good guy with a gun" there and he did nothing). The FBI investigating would have done as much as it did in prior cases, because amassing a stockpile of weapons isn't illegal.

Yeah, all the solutions proposed will address all kinds of problems except mass shootings.

And in the case of "arm the teachers" introduce a bunch of new problems. That one, very likely is the stupidest proposed solution.

Plenty of non US places have walls, gates, and guards around their schools. That seems more reasonable than arming existing staff.

Aren’t those places typically dangerous kleptocracies protecting the elites that have looted their citizens?

Universal basic income to allow a parent to stay home, then require every kid to be homeschooled.

Can't have school shootings if you don't have schools

Good thing Connecticut’s gun laws are so strict.

That security guard is already braver than the Broward County SRO.
