I don't disagree, but it was only at the end. The rest of the movie stood on it's own. And even the end was enjoyable if you could suspend disbelief.

I actually was a little confused by the ending at first as I didn't realize Tarantino was going to be messing with history again. Knowing what I know about the actual incident it was hard to mentally jump in when things get crazy. But overall I really enjoyed the film.

From the point where Brad starts to feed the dog and the LSD kicks in, till the cops arrive, it's pure Quentin fun even if he's taking a loose dump on the actual event.

Nope, but it's now on the list.
Just saw it. Zowie!
I can't describe what it is, because it's so many things. It leans heavy into the food porn, but it's so much more than that. There's a lot going on here. I required subtitles. I'm sure it works better if you understand what the actors are saying.

Actually, I can describe it. It's like a Japanese Tarantino Moive, only better.

Oh, Tampopo is a wonderful film.

If you want more Japanese food porn with little story vignettes, look up Midnight Diner. On Netflix.

Looks like there were two movies (at least?) and a series that ran 5 seasons.

Wife and I really enjoyed this. It was our relaxation for the first couple weeks of lockdown.

I've seen a lot of 50's creature features thanks to MST3k and Rifftrax, but Them! is a really solid movie. It does a great job of building tension, doesn't show the monsters too much (because they are goofy looking), and humanizes the conflict really well. The sound editor is a big fan of the Wilhelm Scream.

I never got a photo of it but a couple months back we tried to binge DS9*, and the ratings said, TV14 or whatever, "Adult Language, Sex, Nudity, Intense Violence, Gore" - I'm assuming just every standard flag got accidentally set, but goddamn it did not live up to those expectations.

*mrs lunch was binging TNG at the same time so could've been that instead of DS9.

Birds of Prey: Fantagilisticexpialidocious Harley Quinn
I dig it. Like they finally fixed everything that was wrong with the DCEU. Successfully folding in the humor for starters, turning all the GrimDark into more of a FUTW This Ain't Your Mommy's PG-13 Superhero. That saturated neon color palette finally gelled into something pretty/not painful to look at. Plus that soundtrack really worked for me.

Margot Robbie owns the roll. The rest of the cast also does well, though Rosie Perez brings too much baggage from White Men Can't Jump and Do the Right Thing. The villain is weak. I agree with Jeremy Jahns that he needed more depth and motivation. I also took Jahns advice on altering my neurochemistry before watching, and I can testify to it's efficacy.

ETA
And another thing. Harley's breakfast sandwich is the bomb. Though I of course switched sharp cheddar for american because no.

This is a lot of fun - a run through of the never filmed Commando 2 script, written by Steven E. de Souza and Frank Darabont.

Charley Varrick, a 70s small-town crime thriller starring Walter Matthau with Joe Don Baker in the Anton Chigur role. Really good at ramping up the tension and keeping you guessing at what Matthau is up to now. Oh, and it featured a young Andrew Robinson, who I didn't recognize without his Cardassian makeup until I looked at the IMDb page. You can definitely see some influence on the Coens and on Tarantino, who pulled his "pair of pliers and a blowtorch" line directly from this movie. Definitely recommended if you're a fan of the dingy, brown-toned, lopsided 70s aesthetic.

We watched Hotel Artemis so you don't have to. Hoping for an entertaining B-movie, got a D-movie instead.

Watched Time Trap last night; it's a 2017 indie film and the conceit is basically "what if time travel was, basically, a place, not a machine?" - in this case, a cave system where time moves differently than it does everywhere else. It's a B movie, but it's a pretty well-done B movie.

Not only is Adam Sandler unfunny, he also can't act.
I took am a bit vexed at the positive reviews this got. Sandler is actually fine - he normally plays self absorbed assholes, and this wasn’t out of that range at all. But the overall production just seemed so amateurish, from the way too long run time to almost all the main actors having basically this movie as their sole career credit. (And those that are good and established are way underused for their talent)
