It's basically a Guardians of the Galaxy movie. In the best way possible.

Idea for a movie: all-female remake of The Lost Boys with People Are Strange supplemented or replaced by The Doors' You're Lost Little Girl. With girl on girl-vampire sex. Rated H for hawt.

I've never seen Fright Night.

Jami Gertz is still a babe. Do we have a thread for celebrity crushes?

The Secret in Their Eyes was uniformly mediocre. Not a lot going on in it. On similar themes, it was no Memories of Murder.

Just googled this- are you talking about the 2010 Argentinian movie or the 2015 U.S. remake?

The opening sequence of Along Came a Spider is hilariously bad.

Le Dossier 51

A near masterpiece about surveillance and petty competition among intelligence services from France. The ending was a little too neat, a bit too faithfully Freudian.

Interestingly shot, mostly in the 1st person.

There are good fan subs out there. PM for them.

Pati Cake$

This one slid under your radar.
Poor New Jersey white girl dreams of making it big as a rap artist. Barely a twist on an old story, but sometimes it's not the story but the tellin. The second act drags a bit, and I reflexively Get Off My Lawn over rap music, but by the credits I was all slammin the jiggy with it, as the kids say.

Was it any different than 8 Mile? (which I liked)

Re-watched Run Lola Run, still holds up. Or maybe it was the drugs. But it was really fun to see again even after multiple viewings. Rare case of sheer energy being able to overcome any shortcomings. IMO one of the best of the Groundhog's Day genre.

Thought I would check out what else that director has done. This looks intriguing, anyone see it?:

Bad Santa is a mediocre movie with an excellent score.

In part:
  • Chopin - Nocturne No. 2 in E-Flat Minor, Op. 9 No.2
  • Papa Loves Mambo
  • Tchaikovsky - The Sleeping Beauty, Ballet Suite, Op. 66a
  • Shostakovich - Jazz Suite #2
  • Verdi - Anvil Chorus (from "Il Travatore")
  • Bizet - Habanera from "Carmen"
  • Tchaikovsky - Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy
  • Tchaikovsky - Trepak (Russian Dance)
  • Rossini - Il barbiere di Siviglia (Overture)

$0.99 movie rental on Google Play.

I'm only about 10 minutes into watching Deadpool and I can tell I'm probably going to buy this movie at some point. It seems they've captured the character's absurdist attitude.
