Also, this is why Hollywood Steve is the best of the Yacht Rock podcast guys - he's desperately trying to find enough songs to convince people that "yacht-prog" exists. :)

Finally getting back into the gym, woo. It feels good to be exercising a bit again.

Restarted weight training yesterday. Just on machines, because I'm feeling too hesitant and out of shape to attempt even bodyweight stuff, let alone free weights. My younger self who lurked on bodybuilding forums is horrified at my use of machines, but I'm okay with easing in. :)

I'm not as sore as I feared I'd be, although I am having to resist the urge to massage my pecs at work.

No shame in the machine game when the alternative is not doing resistance. Between my hips and my shoulder that keeps flaring up, I mostly use machines these days.

Good: I've officially lost 10 lbs since the beginning of this year. I've finally gotten used to being hungry most of the time and the weight continues to come off nicely.

Not so good: I was supposed to stop trying to lose weight/being hungry about nine weeks ago when marathon training started, and I really, really need to stop now. I'm so tired guys.

Can I ask why you haven't stopped since marathon training began? Is it just that you don't want to interrupt the weight loss momentum?

Also, do you not get the fulls out of quality protein like boiled eggs or similar?

Yeah, although more like "the number didn't start dropping until I increased my training load, and how could I pass that up/I got addicted to it." But like, that's dumb.

I do, but I legit have to eat a decent amount of carbs when I'm running this much. When my long runs hit 16 miles or so that basically becomes an entire day's worth of calories in the diet-state.

Totally understandable. But good on you for making the decision to hit pause on that so you can put your training first.

As a runner you might not realize how badass it is because you see people doing it all the time, but seriously! You're training for a MARATHON. That's so impressive.

Ha, thanks, but I still realize it! When I was done with that 16-miler on Saturday it's like...I'm fucking strong!

ETA: And I broke the news to L-dub over the weekend that next year I'm doing an ultra

Attempted to film myself attempting some squats. In the past I probably would have been mortified but instead I'm going to focus on how exciting it will be to film again in a few months and see the improvements!
