It looks nice, if not gloomy enough (too much contrast and light).

Dialogue is pretty clunky though.

Branaugh has a lifetime pass, so I'll give anything he does a shot. Kind of disappointed that Edward Norton isn't in it, but oh well.

I definitely want to see it, because Poirot and Branagh, but it looks really weirdly close to the (quite recent) David Suchet production of the same novel. But I love that production so.

I burned out on Agatha Christie back in the 80's. Mostly from PBS Mystery. My God, how long did Suchet portray the punctilious Belgian?

The Suchet series ran from 1989 to 2013. I'm a big fan of the later seasons, which have sort of different production values and Ll isn't crazy about them. They got more famous people to be in lots of the later episodes as well. Tim Curry stars in Appointment with Death (one of my faves), and the Orient Express episode has people like Jessica Chastain and Barbara Hershey in it.

So 24 years then. Gets me thinking, what are the longest stretches an actor played a role?

Team Hugh & nicole. Branaugh + Branaugh directing + Dench & Jacobi + Bonus Dafoe is like how could you not want to see this?

definitely.

dude can wear a shirt that reads "moustache rides - $17" and it'd be perfectly in line with how much time goes into that.

There have been so many versions of MOTOE that I doubt anything can get me out to another.

It is one of those set-pieces that every director seems to want to do and every actor appears in at one time or another.

It doesn't help that I don't particularly enjoy Agatha Christie.

I don't know. A combination of the setting, John Cho, and the soundtrack done by Hammock is moving this to the definitely maybe list.

It can't be a good sign if you bail out of the trailer.

So Baby Driver looks pretty good. It appears to feed the nascent wave of iPod nostalgia, which is bad.
