Just got my tickets to see Clutch on Friday night. They're playing with the dusty corpses of Corrosion of Conformity (now playing thrash music on tour because it's 1997), and a group called Shrine which I haven't heard.

Kind of a crappy venue at the Hampton Ballroom in Hampton Beach NH, I'm not psyched about the crowd that will likely be there, but I always see at least a half-dozen friends who make it to these shows like clockwork, so that will be nice, and I have enough money for a new hoody (really the only thing I collect anymore).

So, catching the 40th anniversary showing of Monty Python and the Holy Grail in the theater Saturday night.

Oddly enough, almost exactly 15 years ago my wife and I had an "engagement party" (too many in-common friends) at an old second run theater rented out for the purpose.
Theme was MPatHG complete with a showing on the screen.

DM - I really liked the Corrosion of Conformity song"Albatross" and (I think it's called) "Clean My Wounds". Yes, I'm a radio whore, what of it? Is their other stuff good?

See, this is exactly it. That album was great, and that's what I expected to hear from them, especially touring with a 90's metal/rock outfit like Clutch. But what they're doing now is some kind of terrible thrash throwback thing.

Went to the happy hour thing tonight at Reason HQ. It's a really nice office. I got cornered into talking about police brutality with a couple of "libertarian" republicans, so I didn't get to talk to Matt Welch or his dad, and I barely got to talk to Shackford at all (but still more than Ellie). I do not know why I go to stuff like that when I absolutely despise mingling.

Also STEVE SMITH was there.

This was reason hq in Sepulveda (CA) wasn't it? Or I'd have to strike down Hugh with great vengeance and furious anger for being in the DC area w/o telling anyone.

This was at the Reason Foundation offices, which are here in sunny LA. No Gillespie, just Welch and Shackford. Doherty might have been one of the many bearded dudes there, or her might have been the burnout ranting on the street corner near the office. And my drone crashing abilities are something I only discuss with paying clients.
