My first thought was "this should probably be dominated by motown". Seems at least in the ballpark.
Mine was this should basically be Motown, 80s girl groups, 90s R&B* plus Destiny's Child. The list overindexes on the Spice Girls and, per Highway, should include girl bands. Even by their criteria, Salt N Pepa (and Spinderella) were robbed.

I love the bridge before the choruses on this song:

I haven't really paid much attention in the past few years to Mr. Cave as I would like, but this remastered song found its way across my path recently.

“I have no Message to reveal. But later on––Who knows?––I might.”

“A citizen may not be required to offer a ‘good and substantial reason’ why he should be permitted to exercise his rights. The right’s existence is all the reason he needs.”

Yes, they are completely playing that. They are an actual band. Now, you can't compare the singer / guitarist's playing to the the lead guitarist, but the guitar, bass, and drums are all excellent.

What I'm curious about is if the Commodore screen-fill graphics was a conscious minimalist choice, or simply the most complicated program anyone on the set knew how to write.

http://www.vulture.com/2017/07/chance-t ... cloud.html

I worry a little about Soundcloud, in large part because some of my favorite listening is stuff on there linked to by y'all, and I have yet to figure out any tricks to download it for safe keeping for later*. I have no idea what the genre labels are so I wouldn't be able to look for it anywhere else but I'm hooked on those long mixes from the 70s/80s where it samples enough to poke the nostalgia buttons but it's recombined into something original so I don't have to feel guilty about giving in to the easy Soma of past sounds. Or at least that's what I tell myself while falling into the nostalgia trap.

* they seem to have it rigged where whether you look in the resources or something like a video downloader add-on it just shows small kb downloads, not the actual full mp3/4 file.

**not that I'm asking for advice that would get the host/ess in trouble!

Pointer Sisters "Jump" isn't on the list. It should be no. 1.

I think Doktor T wrote the set list for the band playing in one the VA Beach pavillions. All grunge and post grunge covers.

When a film crew follows you around and the best pull quote for your video intro is: "Look! A Hippy!". Those wacky canucks.

Admit it, it's been too long since you listened to April Wine. Ride cymbal chorus. Triple guitars. Dry Ice. It's just like the old gypsy woman foretold. It's got it all.

I can't believe I haven't heard this 'til now. Fabulous white fur aside, these versions are not *that* far apart. If you'd told me Hot Chocolate and April Wine had anything stylistically in common, I'd have thought you nuts, and yet it sounds perfectly natural for both bands.

The thought of Lindsey Buckingham playing guitar on a Nine Inch Nails album is a trip.
