Every Skittle, no matter the color, is the same flavor.
I kind of object to that phrasing. Most of what we perceive as the "flavor" of things we eat is the fragrance/aroma, and the article says that skittles do have different fragrances.
I would call that taste, where I would call the "flavor" the makeup of the underlying consumable.
I would have done the opposite, but you seem to be agreeing with the researcher so maybe I'm wrong.

But that's not the point I'm making. The point I'm making is that I'd have been shocked if the underlying base makeup _wasn't_ at the very least "almost" the same. The thing that makes oranges and lemons and strawberries taste different is primarily fragrant compounds, not the sugar-to-acid ratio. (And I really wouldn't expect the sugar-to-acid ratio to differ too much between the candies).

The summary made me think that the only difference was the color. But the fragrance is the thing I thought was different about them in the first place.

I would have thought there were food chemist flavorings in the Skittles, like there are in other candies. Partly because there generally isn't much space between Skittles of varying colors when they're being consumed (i.e. generally a bunch of mixed colors are consumed and one or two of a color are eaten from the group.

Like, what do you think "food chemist flavorings" are if they're not things that make the candy smell different?

There's sweetness, acidity, bitterness, umami, and saltiness. And then there's things that make the candy smell different.

What kind of barbarian doesn't sort Skittles according to color and then eat one group at a time?

I have a Costco bag of pistachios on my desk. Doesn't mean a Snickers bar isn't good.

I'll do an occasional kit kat because I like wafers. Dunno why. Wafers are solid. Also a fan of whatchamacallit when whimsy strikes. Most candy in vending machines is meh though.

ETA: Pistachios are a for real overrated nut. I'd do the Warren deal but I'd need cashews.

Cashews are a superior nut to pistachios, but I don't feel nearly as bad after absentmindedly eating a bag of them.

Perhaps. But you go too far in condemning it. nicole's dark chocolate cups are the market.
