Having spent my early childhood in the repressive 50s, I'd point out that a frisson of irrational guilt adds to the pleasure of pornography. What these men need to do is stop going to their religious groups and blabbing about it as though that was a bad thing.
I think all adults eventually realize that a little frisson does increase the pleasure. Too much lube and you fall right out of bed.
It's true. At the most basic level, sex is about pheromones and friction. The only difference for our species is that we add fantasies into the mix.

No one thinks it's "unseemly" for Trump to eat well-done steaks. This is just called "mockery."

Yeah, and nobody is saying that's the actual worst thing about him.

(That said, while I love the idea of a campaign going after Trump by just goading and mocking him for stupid shit, every actual application I've seen of Team Bloomberg has been pure cringe. Like tweeting "Impeached president says what?")

I'm pretty into these billboards, especially "Donald Trump went broke running a casino" in lights on the Vegas Strip.

I would definitely like Bloomberg a lot more if he stopped pretending he was going to be president and just paid for a troll campaign against Trump.

I dunno, if you can't recognize a blatant plot setup, you might really need to read more fiction.

WTF does dark speculation on human nature and incentives have to do with STEAM? I mean, yeah, the arts offer plenty of exploration of those notions, but so do game theorists, psychologists, etc. And it's not like scientists need to include artists in their meetings to be able to think about the conduct of their human endeavors. Otherwise EVERY professional body would need to include artists. Nursing organizations? Need artists before they can hold a business meeting. Auto mechanic convention? Better bring artists to draft the by-laws. Accountants' professional org? Need some artists when electing an executive board.

It just seems like this is more likely to be a her-dad problem than a scientist problem.

I think you're taking that Tweet a lot more seriously than I am. Especially since I thought you were one of the people who periodically teases Warren for his hostility toward liberal arts.

I'm with thoreau. Game theory does all the fiction work the sciences need.

I will adamantly defend the place of liberal arts in society, and argue strenuously for the mixing of the two in judiciously-chosen settings.

That's different from the insistence of some liberal arts/STEAM types who believe that any situation in which the two are not perfectly balanced is a flawed situation. There is a time and a place to bring things together, and a time and place to specialize. Insisting that all settings constantly need the arts is like insisting that everyone everywhere constantly needs to study STEM. To all things there is a season.
