Honestly, though, this sort of gee-whiz science story make me feel old. Specifically, being one of the exact stories I've been hearing, with the same real soon, now! promise, since the late 80s. I suppose, right now, they could finally be right about the timing to practicality, but I ain't gonna bet on it.

(They'll figure this out before practical fusion, I'm sure. We may all be dead before they figure out that.)

ETA: Also, if your political recommendations include act now to stop them, before enough of them exist and the authorities let them vote, OMG!, you may be the villain in a mediocre 80s SF story.
