Good stuff. I hadn't heard of them before. I like the Cracker/CvB vibe.

One of those bands that should have been big, but never quite got there.

Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris are the chocolate and peanut butter of vocals, so it's not surprising that they sound good together

The whole album is worth a listen.

I think I'm going to have to give that one a few more spins. I don't know why, I looked forward to it, really like both of them, but so far, this album just hasn't clicked.

Looking forward to listening to the new Buddy/Julie Miller album.

I like this one:

Hem is more on the neo-folk end of the alt-country spectrum, but they do some pretty good honky-tonk covers now and then

And some really heartbreaking originals

So I finally tweaked my indie station on Pandora enough that it started giving me some alt-country, which it needed because it'd become way grrlband-heavy - NTTAWWT but it was a bit monochromatic - and I'm glad.

I was into Old 97's and Robert Earl Keen and Steve Earl just incidentally through some friends, but I was just getting exposed to the genre when Slobberbone broke up and damn that was a missed opportunity. They were regulars around Dallas while I was living there, but I'd kinda gotten the mistaken impression that they were more in the ubiquitous late-90s post-punk vein which I was pretty tired of.

I wouldn't be able to stand having alt-country and indie rock on the same Pandora station. I would just start a new station to keep them separate.
