Also, I think I've said this before, but I have constant pullpaxia* with Megan McArdle -- every time I hear/read her name I think of Megan Mullally and am baffled by what this cool Hollywood actress is bloviating about.

I get Megan Mcardle mixed up with Megan Kelly. Yes, I know they look and think nothing alike. My brain does what it does.

What's that in reference to?
The Iraq War.
I understood that. I was wondering if she actually wrote something saying, “It was a shitshow exactly as predicted, but I was right.”

Per Jadagul, the way to do that is defend the process and show other situations where your instinct worked. Intervention in Libya didn’t work. Non-intervention in Syria didn’t work either, but the facts on the ground are a bit different and I don’t think intervening beyond enforcing no fly zones and providing real cover will do much either.

The problem is you only get to see one outcome. People who always oppose intervention always say it would have been worse had we intervened for example. They may be right but there tends to be a thumb on the scale of the preferred approach in the hypothetical case.

When was it ever the case that things got worse for the security of the USofA when we failed to intervene?

Well, one can make a compelling argument that if we had gotten involved when Hitler decided to eat Czechoslovakia, we might have been able to forestall much of the European war. Likewise with the Japanese after the Marco Polo Bridge Incident.

You could also make a good case for intervention following the Cuban Missile Crisis if diplomacy didn’t work.

I inherited Buffalo Bills fandom from my mom's side of the family, so obviously I think the Music City Miracle was a TRAVESTY. David disagrees. Somehow we started arguing about it AGAIN last night. And because I am extremely mature and cool-headed, I acknowledged he might have some good points threatened to make Li'l Ringo's middle name "That Was A Forward Pass" AND JUST SEE IF I DON'T

On the other hand, both of those situations were fallout from the previous US intervention in WW1. Kinda like how ISIS rampaging through Iraq didn't meet the normal, "Shit's just going wrong without our brilliant leadership, and so we have to intervene!" interventionist narrative either.

Post-Soviet Russia.

It was right on the 25 yard line, and stayed right in the same position over it as it flew. Also, Buffalo, you're so banged up you need random volunteers for the kicking team, but you still do a squib kick rather than putting it into the end zone? And you let Jeff Fisher get the game that he'd ride to a tie for the most losses by a head coach? Unforgivable.

So, sexually assaulting an Uber driver and lying about it nets you three games. Insider trading that you confess to and agree to make restitution for is an indefinite ban.

The lamest thing I'd ever seen a player do quitter wise was Lagarette Blount quitting on the Steelers in the middle of a game because he didn't get enough carries. Went to the locker room and out to the bus in the middle of the 4th quarter.

This is the second lamest thing.
