I couldn't get into Tacoma. The idea of a game named Tacoma that's not a post-apocalyptic shooter seems too farfetched.

Strangely, farming sims make more sense to me than trucking sims.

Does XCOM2 suck or something? It's on sale but i know no people playing it and it's way back in Steam popularity sorts.

The first XCom 2 (Terror from the Deep) super sucked, but that's not this one. I think the issue might be that the XCom remake was super hard, and didn't really endear itself to a lot of players, so I can imagine that there just weren't many people interested in a sequel to that.

I've heard it's actually way better than X-com 1 (the remake). Maybe some got turned off after 1. I wanted to like the first one but it was missing something that made we want to replay it more.

I've only heard good things from people I know who played it.

Well they made it hard af, I can tell you that much so far. Like 3 of the first 5 missions have mid mission airborne drops by the bad guys behind your lines. Like, no matter how you have your lines, they show up behind them. It creates frenetic sprints to cover by your sniper who usually is near the LZ for the reinforcements, plus a requirement to blitz to secure area in front of you so you can turn and hold. The scout/ranger class has a machete chop of significant damage they can do all the way at the end of a sprint. That's fun. Grenadiers are super powerful. Typical doomsday clock but particularly difficult resource constraints to get started. Need scientists cant afford scientists. Missions triggered every 2 days so you can't get close to your monthly allowance etc. It's made to force you to use more rookies due to injury. Very hard to get out without injury to at least one.

My beef with the X-Com games, which I love, is they have a wonky difficulty curve. It goes Impossible->Very Hard->Manageable->Very Hard->Manageable->Easy

Immediately start using the Colonial Charger mod. It's seamless and stable, and triples the content. Totally worth it.

I read about This War of Mine and decided to try it out. It's depressing (as though a game based on the siege of Sarajevo could be any other way). It's a "war game", but you're not commanding forces or running around the battlefield taking out enemy positions; you play as a group of civilians trying to survive the war, and your main struggle is to not die of cold or have looters steal everything you own in the middle of the night. So far I have lost two characters to suicide, one got shot by a soldier while he was attempting to loot a building, and one is pretty much on the brink of death from starvation. Even the ones who are surviving aren't very happy about having had to do things like steal from a harmless elderly couple just to stay alive.

Oh, I've been down that path. Pretty much have to pay what they say, knowing the price will never drop and sales are rare and minor, or else go third-party.
Guess I should find a funny sig, huh?
