For what it's worth, one of my friends was really excited about the WWI movie, and then really disappointed when he saw it in theaters.

The trailer gives me a 'Schindler's List' vibe in the sense that I am about to see something truly horrifying.

Huh. All I got out of it was, I've seen this before. I've seen it a lot.
Not that footage mind you. Just The Great War in general.
Kubrick's Paths of Glory is a great movie, but perhaps not the best 'life in the trenches' depiction. All Quiet on the Western Front 1930 probably tops my list on that score. Ken Burns was especially infuriating for fellating Wilson.

the monster in stranger things is Bigfoot, per IMDB. Hitler appears to be uncredited.

More than any other war, WWI pisses me off as such a pointless destruction of human life. More than other wars. Neither side had a good reason to be involved. It feels a bit fresher as I went to the Imperial War museum last month and there is a massive amount of the museum devoted to the Great War (it's pretty cool), but all of the stuff devoted to stuff like gas attacks and the industrialization of killing for nothing is just sickening. The only good thing about WWI is that it created so much horror that ... wait never mind, two decades later war was just as brutal and indiscriminate.

Yeah WW1 was a toxic stew of horrible leadership, bad strategy, technological change, and geographic constraints. I'm not sure if there has ever been a conflict where the leadership was so disconnected from the actual realities of the fighting. The western front usually gets the most press but the fighting in central and eastern europe was in many ways even more horrible. It just wasn't over the same two mile strip but it was equally as hopeless and unnecessary.

And it stopped (or mostly stopped) significantly earlier with the collapse of the Russian Empire.

Add to that most of a century of pious moral posturing about it, which has always repulsed me. Almost every country where people make big displays about anniversaries of the Armistice has gone to multiple wars since. It's just a morbid ritual, complete (in the UK, at least) with political posturing over what color poppy to wear.

Sure the Terminator franchise has let me down before with Terminator 3, Salvation, and Genisys, but this time they're definitely gonna follow through on making a third good Terminator movie.

I didn't see Edward Furlong in that trailer, so no sale.

Same. It was fun and I liked that they made Judgement Day an inevitability.

I mean all of the post T2 movies had their charms, but none of them was an overall good movie the way the first two were.

This.

T3 was a perfectly fine bit of entertainment for an evening. T1 and T2 were iconic movies that I quote and rewatch.

Don't care about the books, I hope it stays true to Kubrick ;)

Looks like this has enough going for it that I'm not really going to care if it's actually good or not:

Thought one of the plot conceits sounded familiar; realized I was thinking of Anon.
