Things you think you want, even if only because you've learned they exist.

The SousVide Supreme. http://goo.gl/4Uku

A water oven. Super-high-tech. Appealing. Hideously expensive.

(It's like an ultra-precise crock pot, except you seal what you're making in bags and cook it in the precisely-temperature-maintained water inside.)

I'm terribly intrigued, though if I ever go this route, I'll probably seek a cheaper solution.

Looks like an amplifier.

I want an Oppo universal blu-ray player. Of course, that means I want the 46" TV to go with it (Sony of course, because I cant' stand not overspending).

It's a Bryston 7B SST2 monoblock amplifier. 600W with an 8 Ohm load. Pure material lust. :)

Since I've become hopelessly addicted to watching Top Gear on BBC America, I've come to the conclusion that I want a ridiculously expensive, very fast car.

In fact, if Top Gear has taught me anything about myself, it's that deep down inside, I really like cars. I just completely lack the financial wherewithall to purchase anything that I find remotely interesting.

i simply can't justify 360 for something like that, no matter how awesome it sounds.

Oh man, I would love a Minimoog or even the new Voyager...but I'd really love a Sequential Circuits T-8. I have been in love with those things since they were first produced...sigh...polyphonic aftertouch...droooooool....

Hey fellas :) In my world the sky is a bright azure blue. Sometimes it's full of puffy white clouds like huge balls of cotton. Sometimes the clouds are higher and whispier and sometimes they crowd out the sun and look gray and angry and rain upon our heads.

This thread is making me realize that all the things I want to acquire are fairly inexpensive. Except for the part where I want to buy property in NYC and never have to move again.

Brand new or vintage 911 (CS2 is fine with me), that light steely blue metallic paint that looks like an oxide layer over the bare metal. Beige or tan leather. Metallic black paint will do in a pinch. :)

Great, because there are no hideous Maybachs around.

True. Most cars these days look like blobs. I have a hard time distinguishing a lot of them from one another unless I have some special familiarity with them. The Maybach is actively ugly without charm.
