It's a nicely earwormy song, and I'm tickled by the retro video. Aside from a very few camera cuts and the actress' outfit, it's a dead-on take of a very late-80s/pre-grunge-90s indie rock video, even down to those directors who loved to keep the cameras sweeping around for no real reason at all.

(It may have too much of a coherent plot, though. :D)

That's Bartok's String Quartet #3 at the beginning of the video! I've actually played that one.

Strange, as a junior high kid I remember thinking the video was pretty hokey, but I find it fairly entertaining now and appreciate how far outside the Stones' usual Undercover was.

Random music video I'd only seen snatches of back in the early 90s. A little bit ago, I randomly thought of it and remembered that YouTube does in fact exist. It turned out to actually be pretty clever:

(Slightly too long silent intro, but there's audio.)

Man, the entire Automatic for the People album (CD for me by that point*) takes me back.

*I probably bought exactly one vinyl album pre-CD, I just wasn't that into music in high school, but then did the BMG thing in college.

Technically, that was off Out of Time, but they banged those two out in consecutive years after not releasing anything for a few years. But yeah, those albums from my high school days are both more than 25 years old, now. Dang.

Mind, any of the older stuff doesn't affect me the same way, given I never heard any of it until I looked up their older stuff after Out of Time. It was all "old" back then—three to ten years!—after all.

Some semi-random best hits from their 80s videos, that I had seen before:

I like the cinematography on this. It's about twenty years ahead of its time in using slomo for a fast song. ;)

Artsy and melodramatic AF.

Trains and rurality!

Their silliest video, by far.

I like the use of the shots of Athens. Really nice sense of place to things.

Ah right. Out of Time was my first into to REM provided by friends in high school (and is possibly the first CD I listened to ever)

This was off what I'm pretty sure was the first CD I owned (a gift along with the CD player).

Oh, the first CD I owned was Achtung Baby, I just remember Out of Time was the first CD we listened to on a friends brand new CD player.

Cameos by Biz Markie, Big Daddy Kane, Mickey Mantle, Spud Webb, and John Madden. That's pretty nifty.
