Oh yeah. Facebook is basically exploding with how he was personally responsible for the existence of everything from just to the right of Bill Clinton all the way to actual neo-Nazis.

Radley had a good point about this. He had no problem funding think tanks and the like that supported the social causes that he advocated for, but when push came to shove and it came to funding politicians, he had no problem pushing his chips all in on the Cottons and Blackburns, despite his disagreements with them on social stuff, but anyone that hit his pocketbook, but supported the social issues he did were left high and dry.

Revealed preferences and all that.

Sure fine. He was a stay in a tent to influence the tent guy. Maybe a hypocrite in some regards. That’s fair. This other stuff - come on. The dude who signs Alex Nowrastehs check is not a fucking white nationalist.

What influence did he have on the social stuff? Literally zero. Tom Cotton shifted his lawn order views not one whit. On the other hand he was able to pressure the Natural History Museum to our anti-climate change stuff in a fucking dinosaur exhibit. How many Alex Noweasrehs would it take to have the influence of one Louis Goehmert or one Tom Cotton?

You don’t think Koch think tank stuff inside the right tent has influence right acceptance of lgbt and drug stuff?

That’s fine, but then don’t give me a bunch of shit about how influential they are.

The conservative movement hasn’t moved a whit on LGBT issues. They were ride or die until the bitter end and then just shifted focus when the rest of the world told them to die. People were still pushing gay marriage bans until Obergefell.

You aren’t where we are if all or most conservatives held those views. You are holding up a standard of reforming hardliners and I’m talking about nudging moderates.

The ones who realize he's pro-immigration assert that he's only doing it so he can exploit illegal immigrants for super cheap labor who won't assert their rights in court.

Good Fucking Riddance
Robert Mugabe, the Zimbabwean independence icon turned authoritarian leader, has died aged 95.

Mr Mugabe had been receiving treatment in a hospital in Singapore since April. He was ousted in a military coup in 2017 after 37 years in power.

The former president was praised for broadening access to health and education for the black majority.

But later years were marked by violent repression of his political opponents and Zimbabwe's economic ruin.
By 'later years', they mean 'almost from the moment he got power.'

The left refused to acknowledge his corruption for decades, choosing to blame Zimbabwe's problems on 'colonialism.'

Confession: when I saw the news I thought, "Wait, didn't he die like 10 years ago?" It took me a little while to realize I was mixing him up with the House episode "The Tyrant."

Aw crap. Rik Ocasek.

I'm not a pop guy but they always worked. Heartbeat City was one of the first cassettes I got when I got my own boom box for in-room listening.

In the days before the internet, I use to watch "This Week" pretty regular on Sunday mornings. On more than one occasion Cokie bitch slapped George Will when he trotted out some absurd conservative bugaboo.
