I honestly thought Hosni Mubarak had already died of natural causes (and not 'natural' causes) a year or two after he was was deposed.

It was Morsi who died of 'natural' causes. Right where everyone could see it.

Based on the coverage he's gotten, he must've singlehandedly ended slavery, cured cancer, and balanced the federal budget.

Imagine if Kobe Bryant had been accused of rape during #MeToo instead of 2003. There'd be parades celebrating the helicopter crash.

Oh man. I met him when I was in college. He came to Centre, presented to a broad audience about science history and space exploration, and to the physics department about quantum mechanics. This would have been 1994 or so and he was already somewhat addled seeming in his presentations back then.

Will he be interred in the revolutionary Dymaxion Crypt? Or will its obvious potential be ignored and passed over by yet another generation?

He had a good run. I always found him an annoying host of Inside the Actor's Studio, but a good number of the interviews were really quite good.

A bit smug, occasionally trite, but I don't think I ever became annoyed with him. He let his subject do most of the talking, so when the guest was good the interview was good. Peter Falk comes to mind.
