lol, in addition to the Tydings bridge on I-95 being shut down for trucks blowing over, the Hatem bridge is now blocked by a tree that just fell right across the SB lanes. It's a bad day for Havre de Grace.

If it's going to clear and -15F at night the least I can ask for is an aurora KPI of more than 2.

I've got a couple shingle tabs in my front yard and a lot of sticks, but nothing worse than that so far. No trees blown over in the forest preserve. No power outages for me, tho. *keeps knocking on wood*

I have someone else’s aluminum frame for...something and a number of shingles in my yard. None of them from my house.

My welcome mat blew off but that’s the worst of it.

Finally got power back around 2 pm. Our backyard is adjacent to a wooded park and one of large trees on our property blew over, taking out an old brick fire pit and two other trees that are probably on public property

I know how thoroughly irrational this is but I actually feel kinda left out, seeing these dramatic storms happening in places where I used to live but no longer do.

It looks like the weather is just not going to change, with the high around 45 and the low around freezing for the foreseeable future. Fuck you, weather, fuck you.

We got 16" in one swoop, it's settled to about 12" of shitty, wet, heavy shoveling.

But work was closed so that's a plus.

We just got a couple inches of decorative snow down here. Wouldn't mind it getting a bit warmer, tho.

Ugh. That's crap.
We just got another 2" of light n' fluffy. Only two more months to go!

There's a "freeze warning" tonight, on the news and weather channels. A "severe alert" according to the Weather Channel. Because tonight's low temperature is supposed to go all the way down to ... (dramatic pause) ... twenty-nine degrees.

Nothing like a few extra lazy inches of snow to turn the roads into a slush that coats everything into gritty, ashy sludge.

So, you'll deliver a heater but not turn it on?

I was thinking vulcanized black rubber mats that were impregnated with copper plates or coils on the bottom, parabolic and flat mirrors, and PVE panels with remote heating elements for out of the way places. The real questions being, are they organic and gmo free?

Snark aside I'd never heard of portable heating mats. I'm familiar with hydronic, under concrete systems.
Sidewalks around newer buildings here quite frequently sport them.
They tried it in a crosswalk situation in downtown Anchorage a few years back and it was a miserable failure. Okay, that's not quite true. The sidewalk was indeed free of snow, but full of water (at least for a time). Car drives through the water and deposits it on the frozen roadway just the other side of the intersection. Enough cars = huge assed ice bump and at 0F that doesn't take long to build up.
