Australia has much the same kind of problem as the US when it comes to prison population and racial disparities:

"In the last 30 years, the number of people in Australian prisons has tripled. ... Less than 3% of Australians identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, but Indigenous Australians make up more than a quarter of the nation's prison population."

I'd say this is an improvement from the days when Australia's prison population was 100%.

From what I've read -- yeah, here in America we still have a long way to go to eradicate racism against non-whites, but compared to Australia we're practically Utopia. (Actually, I think we're better than most European or European-descendant countries in that regard: yes, we still have a very significant racism problem, but at least we admit it and talk about it.)

SNITCH LINK!

The Reason Foundation's anarcho-libertarian chatroom, Hit & Run, has, with the stealth of a cat burglar, altered its chatroom disclaimer, to wit:
Editor's Note: We invite comments and request that they be civil and on-topic. We do not moderate or assume any responsibility for comments, which are owned by the readers who post them. Comments do not represent the views of Reason.com or Reason Foundation. We reserve the right to delete any comment for any reason at any time. Report abuses.
Yeah, the red "abuses" link takes you to webmaster@reason.com, where, presumably, you may inform on fellow libertarians who have crossed the line of decorum. Given the vile, pornographic, obscene, hateful, misogynistic, anti-reason, anything-goes, cop-killer philosophy at Reason.com, one must wonder: what sort of commentary could possibly qualify as "abuse"?

I suspect it's more of an old psychosis updated for the modern era. You know that scene in certain creepy TV shows or movies where (for example) you visit the home of someone you think is just a casual acquaintance, and you had no idea they've been obsessing over you until you discover the walls are absolutely plastered with photos of you -- not just the pictures that appeared in your old yearbook, or in newspaper or magazine articles about you, but also plenty of casual, on-the-street long-range photos indicating that person's been following you for quite some time?

I think it's like that.

Well, they were sued once for their (sheep-fucking) commentary. They settled, and they asked their poachers (their commentators) to behave like civilized humans.
We all know how that turned out. And now, this latest legal disclaimer. And none of the commentators has noticed!
Is consequence-free thought at risk on the site of Free Minds®?
Why the new legal disclaimer? Why?
Why?

I like to think of ZaK with print-outs of comments from SugarFree's blog and Urkobold and whatnot just papering his mom's basement walls.

Well! This little off-topic diversion has been most entertaining, but would any of you libertarians like to go against form and get back on-topic to discuss why the Free Minds® forum at Reason.com has instituted a snitch link in its disclaimer?

Suppositions? Conspiracy theories? Crackpot notions?

Don't be shy!

So...none of the descendents of the libertarian chatroom Mother Ship--Hit & Run--have any further comments about its little snitch-link?

Thanks for bringing it up ZaK. I've been wanting to clarify this. I am the OG Warren. The three r's Warrren is a johnny come lately. He posts quite a bit more than me on Hit & Run. But I'm still me and not him (or her, or them, or whatevs).

Hat tip to Eric. TV Trope links are always added value.

Word to the wise Eric, think carefully about posting too many TV Tropes links on a thread where the ability to block posters has been firmly established.
