Ellie's drunk. I am very envious of her right now with my one beer before bedtime. *sigh*
God, I fucking wish. I'm 23 days sober today because I started drinking way too much while Li'l Ringo was in the NICU and then couldn't stop again once she came home, and I'm sucking up and doing it with AA because the SMART Recovery groups around here don't offer free childcare at their meetings. I have a couple funny observations about it that I keep meaning to post in the "Friends and Enemies of Bill W" thread but haven't gotten around to it.

No pink cloud yet. I miss booze, a lot. Oh well.

Which could be what someone named Ragnar Dannesjkold ended up being called after going through Ellis Island ...
...or at least Ellie's Island.
More like in that case he'd be called Rammer Manasshold.

It's been a while since I've seen such a good transportation policy for the end of the 19th century like that one.

Hyped for those interstate bicycle lanes. Should be used by 10s of people per annum.

It doesn't count, Mo, because it only carries trillions of ton-kilometers of freight per year, not millions of bored passengers who are wondering why they're on this 2 day train versus the 4 hour flight they could have taken...

What if we got some sort of tycoon that we name a university after drive a golden spike into the ground to commemorate it, but also have dramatized in a terrible Will Smith movie by having a hero general/president at the ceremony instead. Would it count then? What if the movie had a giant robot spider?

That was the one that really got me too. How many people really want to use a bike for interstate transit, minus those cases where "interstate" just means "downtown happens to be on the other side of the state line"?

I'm just surprised so many have been scarred by that movie to remember it so well. Its reach is so far. We will never know peace. Not deep down. Not in our heart of hearts.

Ringing any bells yet?

Another hint: basically bad movie that is fun if viewed in the right spirit.

The part in An Evening With Kevin Smith where he talks about meeting with producer Jon Peters is amazing. (And, I promise, relevant to this discussion.)
