This is the best news I have seen so far:

Florida Amendment 4 has passed, restoring voting rights for felons who have completed their sentences.

Well shit. Now Trump's Cabinet officials will be able to remain involved in the political process.

I'd have voted for it. But I'm not jumping for joy over it. In general I believe the fewer people that vote the better. Convicted felons in particular are not a constituency I'm inclined to welcome in choosing our representatives in government. However, the top to bottom fuckery of our judicial system has made denying them the vote part of the violence inherent in the system. So in so far as felon suffrage removes a tool of oppression, I toast those restored to the democratic process. And I pray they avail themselves of it with greater wisdom than the rest of us.

I have to say that a bunch of far lefties losing tonight losing combined with the house flip is good on net. Wish there was a way for Gillum and DeSantis to both lose.

I have barricaded the door. Nailed up boards over the windows. Piled boxes full of books and such in front of the back door. And put on my tin foil hat.

I'm waiting out the inevitable arrival of P. Diddy. He will find no easy fight here. Just gotta last til morning. God speed everyone! God speed!

I did not vote. I was busy with school/new house.

Absolutely. I just hope that Brian Kemp loses too. If he wins after his shenanigans we will get more of that in the future, not less.

I highly doubt Kemp is going to lose. He's determined to win, by fair means or foul.

OK, I'm convinced our election system is sufficiently secure to not worry about an existential crisis.

Really, I think all the detectable shenanigans are the strongest evidence against a comfortable ability to fix the election.

It's evidence for a whole bunch of appalling election practices, but against existential crisis. Clearly the elections were not being, like, deeply hacked in a way that made it impossible for Democrats to win close races.

(You can tell a conspiracy story about how the Russians wanted to hack them to tip over a few close races like Florida but let the Democrats win the House to sow more dissension, but that seems like quite the stretch.)

That doesn't mean there aren't a lot of problems we need to find a way to fix. But on the other hand, tonight was a good night for voting rights and redistricting reforms at the ballot box, so there's that.

I didn't really pay attention to the returns last night, but I didn't see anyone rioting in the streets on the way to work this morning, so I'm assuming the "right" people won?   I guess I'll find out when I check Facebook and see how much wailing and gnashing of teeth is on my feed.

I broke my self-imposed social media exile to mock Beto's loss. Beto supporters, in general, have been insufferable so they needed the L.
