My sister is on the opposite end of the spectrum---which is roughly "Of course no one is actually going to try to resolve disputes by violence. So even if active threats of violence are being made, it's unreasonable to take them seriously or treat them as actual threats."
Squints.

Man I'd bet she wouldn't pull that shit in public tho.

Wait, 'knife' isn't a euphemism here, is it?

I mean, a butter knife, yeah, suck it up, mouthybro? A machete? Butcher Pete belongs in prison before he hacks his pals to death over whether abbreviations are legal in Scrabble. Context matters.

Anything with an edge is over the line as far as I'm concerned. Even a 2" pen knife, if it's brandished in someone's face there needs to be record of that.

I know way too many people with CHLs to think waving a knife around is a behavior that doesn't end with you getting shot. I will occasionally point at people/things with a knife, but that's in the context of being in the kitchen and chopping things with a knife and needing to point with the knife in my hand. Even then I'll usually point with my elbow.

I guess the lesson is narc way way worse than explicitly violent toxic masculinity. That's a very much surprising outcome among this crew.

I'm not surprised tbh. Ingroup v. Outgroup. If you side with any outsiders, you are worse than the worse insider.

There are implications to this level of outsiderocity I'd rather not think about in the current climate. This guy has been an in group person for most of his adult life in this group. I think under the insider/outsider model he is a traitor. *shudder*

I think people may not be not very far from endorsing violence on strictly tribal terms. It's at least "ok lets figure it out" among a tribe that explicitly projects non masculine, other tribe is violent we are not, etc.

It is weirdly difficult to find out whether Meccano/Erector sets are metric or imperial. AFAICT, they're actually kind of a hybrid: the holes are just over 4mm in diameter, so that a 4mm bolt will fit nicely, but the spacing of the holes is 1/2".

I don't know where to put this but the vigilantism in the last month or so in Europe bothers me.

There was also video of a guy getting beat up in Britain allegedly because he was trying to throw acid on people which bothered me a lot because the details were flimsy.

Coincidental timing. I just found my old set(s) from the late 80s/early 90s. I think it's evolution 1, 2, or 3. I need to figure out what all is there so I can see whether the resale value is zero... or just roughly zero.

It would be amusing if it weren't so pathetic, how TurboTax sends it's return numbers spinning up and down only to land on the same numbers before the spin, just so the consumer thinks the software is "working" to get you the biggest refund.
