Hot dog: sandwich or not?
No. It's a sausage. /pedant

It isn't a sandwich. You would never describe a hot dog place as a sandwich shop.

A hot dog is a sandwich if it is eaten sideways, so that there is bread on the top AND bottom of the meat. Otherwise, it's a wrap.

Not sandwich. I have strict standards for sandwich -- outer layers must be two pieces of bread sliced off a loaf. Hot dog not a sandwich, taco not a sandwich, hamburger not a sandwich.

Edited to add: thus also, hoagies/subs are not sandwiches. People who work at Subway are "sandwich artists" only as much as the Holy Roman Empire was Roman.

So a sandwich on a roll is not a sandwich?

Can't be a wrap because it's not fully surrounded on four sides by one piece of starch.

I file hot dogs as in that pita bread/open-face sandwich space.

I think hot dogs fall into the general category of "dogs". You can make a hot dog, or a brat dog, or a chili dog, and so on. It's bun and shape makes it distinct from a sandwich or wrap.

I just want to point out how much Chicago sucks based on their "pizza" and the fact that they are particular about hot dogs. Even good hot dogs are inferior sausages. Every place between the Rhine and the Black Sea does vastly superior sausages on a roll.

You might as well say your fancy two-pieces-of-bread-around-a-filling is a "layered wrap" and not a sandwich.
Somebody is about to do this, I'm sure. Maybe they already have.
Only if you put pineapple on it. Pineapple doesn't belong on a real sandwich.

Clickhole's is fairly epic.

Confession, for a while I wasn't wholly certain that GDPR wasn't some annoying millennial ahistorical nostalgia for the German Democratic Peoples' Republic.

If GDPR makes for lighter websites I might even forgive it.

I'm actually surprised at how much of the bloat is from tracking stuff. I thought a lot more was like internal scripts and dynamic bullshit.

I mean, I knew there was a lot of tracking stuff. I didn't think that the tracking stuff added up to multiple megabytes. (I'm still a bit confused about what all those megabytes are actually doing---why do you need that much data to do tracking?)

Basically, I don't mind being tracked at all. Or getting fed ads. I mind the performance hit that the tracking and the ads cause.

The forums at the This Old House website are maybe a little too zealous in their censorship. To repair a wall of peeling paint, someone recommends that "first you sc**** all the old paint off the wall."
