I was hoping the plan was going to be re-fueling *while driving*, a la in-flight airplane fuel tankers. My other dream is to be able to order McDonalds from the freeway, and have the delivery car drive up alongside, everyone rolls down their windows, and they hand it over at speed, won't need to exit.

I don't know. At a certain point, technology gets good enough you never leave the house.

Peter Thiel makes zero sense. Also, I love how he gets on his high horse about interesting technology (and how social media isn't it) and furrows his brow about state surveillance while he's made the bulk of his money from Facebook and Palantir.

I'm a little weirded out by the way Tyler Cowen is enthusiastically boosting that speech on Twitter when every part of it seems pretty bad.

Pretty sure he's not even complaining about state surveillance, just state allegiance.

Does the H&R commentariate count as libertarian?

I'd read it, but Medium can't even keep a damn web page up. (I really dislike Medium.)

Well they're something alright. But I was more curious about specific authors and intellectuals. Has there been a philosophical change I hadn't noticed.

Obvs the OG quote was WRT Peter Theil*, money quote:
China has been stealing our intellectual property and conducting cyber-warfare, and China is an unusually dirty country dirtying up the planet. Trump’s 25% tariffs on China should be reframed as a carbon tax.
I haven't seen anything out of the Reasonoids or Cato types.

Reason has been calling him a libertarian since they started talking about him, including when he was pimping Trump. I guess because he hates college and was into seasteading.

Fair enough. Although Reason does tend to call anyone who is mildly anti-government a libertarian. How else are you going to have a "libertarian moment?"
