Just one of those increasingly common random coincidences that happen to be what Putin wants to happen.

I think it's funny that Bobby Three Sticks' investigation into the Trump campaign's potential collusion with Russia has uncovered wrongdoing by Podesta's consulting firm.

Why are people making such a big deal about this? Can someone explain why I should care that the Clinton campaign paid for it? Is it just journalists salty that they were lied to? To me it seems like oppo research (which it was and was started by Rs during the primary).

ETA: And I knew I heard this before. This is from May:
Last year, a political intelligence firm in Washington, Fusion GPS, hired Steele to investigate Trump’s dealings with Russia. The DNC paid for the work after its initial funder, a wealthy Jeb Bush supporter, dropped out.

I get that, but the DNC funding wasn't exactly news. It is literally months-old. The only news part is that Maggie Haberman was lied to. That literally happens every day from the person that actually won the election.

It's now confirmed that this was commissioned by the body charged with defeating the GOP candidate. It's confirmed that there's no possible objectivity to it, in addition to there being no proof.

It remains shoddy work that no one would touch before the election, and only Buzzfeed etc would after the election.

The initial funders were Republicans who were also anti-Trump. It was always known to be oppo research. Who else would have funded that wild goose chase? Lots of true stuff comes from sources without objectivity. Deep Throat had a major axe to grind against the Nixon administration. If the provenance of the funding being anti-Trump is the issue, that was known from day 1.

Eh, it's just the final confirmation that there's nothing there without independent proof. Frankly, it's weird that your media made so much of it, but then having him as a leader would be rather disconcerting. IIRC, the DNC didn't even use it during the campaign?

And it's not like the NY Times is a quality paper that wouldn't let someone like Louise Mensch anywhere near its opinion page.
