Good points. I was thinking just in terms of a bunch of young judges being given lifetime appointments by Donald Trump.

Given the increased lifespan of people, we really ought to revisit the lifetime appointment rule for federal judges. Twenty is plenty.

If Moore loses, we may have 2 full years of no judicial appointments that aren't Dems.

Yeah, that's kind of the question. Can Dems play that tit-for-tat game without repercussion, like the GOP apparently can? Would the Dem coalition fight back against it more? Is this the new normal? Or do the Dems face punishment like the second guy in a fight, getting the blame for
the results?

I don't think you can mobilize voters on circuit court nominees. Also, I would suspect that Schumer is cagier than McConnell and would hold sham judiciary hearings on a SCOTUS nominee, where no one gets out. Then he could say, "Hey, unlike the Republicans, we gave Trump's nominees a hearing and they were too extreme to make it out of committee." We're better than they are.

If he trusted his caucus, he could even give them a vote.

Too many potential pitfalls among the broader set, especially since he would likely only be able to lose one. The Senate Judiciary Committee doesn't have a single member that would be a flight risk. Only Franken and Klobuchar are from purplish states.

This is the Sutherland Springs tweet.

Oh, remember that dude that passed the Senate judiciary committee, that was 3 years out of law school, deemed unqualified by the ABA, had never tried a case and hunts ghosts? Surprise! He has unconventional views on the original KKK.

Just the bookface.

Forget the Senate, it won't make it out of committee in the house.
