If Bernie said that he likes mint chocolate chip ice cream, people would say that he's endorsing dairy subsidies.

(His detractors would say that to denounce him as socialist and his fans would say that to woo Wisconsin swing voters. While Bernie is sitting there eating ice cream.)

Gillibrand is out. She wasn't good enough, she wasn't smart enough, and doggonnit, people didn't like her.

I don't care if Bernie likes mint chocolate chip, I am not giving up one of my favourite flavours.

The Mexico City agreement which denies American aide to those organizations around the world that allow women to have abortions or even get involved in birth control to me is totally absurd. So I think, especially in poor countries around the world where women do not necessarily want to have large numbers of babies, and where they can have the opportunity through birth control to control the number of kids they have, is something I very, very strongly support.

I'm more worried about the fact that the second sentence is actually pretty incoherent if you really look at it. I mean, there is no subject in that sentence.

There's plenty about the things that come out of Sanders mouth that worry me with regard to his relationship to rational thought. That isn't one of them. He was speaking extemporaneously in response to a question. The sentence is perfectly cromulent.

Other than Trump losing on November 3, 2020, the election result I would most like to see is Mitch McConnell losing his Senate seat. [I know it is unlikely as hell, but I'd love to see it.]

the Mooch is calling it now for The Other Guy
“If you look at where the stock market is, economic growth, a lot of the data, if he was just halfway normal, and didn’t do the tweeting, and all the bullying, and all the nonsensical inanity, he would have a much higher approval rating [than about 42%], it would’ve been easier for him to win reelection,” Scaramucci told CNBC’s Karen Tso in Davos.

“But he’s missile-locked at a certain position, and he’s now a known entity. Before he ran, there was a lot of speculation of what he could be. Now we know what he is. And so I firmly think he’s going to lose, because 85% of the delegates here in Davos think he’s going to win.”

Scaramucci noted that prior to Trump’s election victory in 2016, Davos delegates were certain he would fail to gain the Republican nomination and that Hillary Clinton would be president.

Since the Davos consensus is usually wrong, I think the Mooch makes a strong case here.

The wrinkle being who the Democrat nominee is.
I think it more likely than not he will be reelected for the same reason he was elected. Namely the horror of the alternative.

I saw a yard sign that said "Not voting is a vote for TRUMP." If Trump gets to count nonvoters, he's definitely winning reelection.

I am annoyed by that slogan for the most obnoxious possible reason.

Not voting is half a vote for Trump.

One good thing about Trump winning is that Libertarians will get to feel powerful again, because Trump being re-elected is obviously our fault.

I don't know if the coronavirus outbreak is the best thing that could have happened to Uncle Joe's campaign, but his staff says a silent prayer of thanksgiving every day that he is socially distanced from speaking/fighting.

Stacey Abrahms would be the 2020 version of Sarah Palin.

On careful consideration, I agree. Jello Wrestling would be more in character for both. But only if you allow hair-pulling.
