The problem isn't that they have no talent or experience, it's that they aren't victim enough. You need to put black transgendered centaurs in charge.

I think Trump is going to be a one termer simply because the economy is going to dip (either small or big league) sometime in the next 4 years and Presidents always get the blame for that.

Forget rainbow centaurs. Have you seen the last 6-18 months? The Lulztopia is here, my friend...

Just thought of a new prediction: might we see a reverse of 1992?

An unlikely candidate (and known womanizer) who's got pending legal cases of varying seriousness going on right now. The D's could go full Gingrich and keep Trump tied up in court for much of his term(s)...

The lefty Facebookosphere (aka my feed) was full of some story that Trump was on the verge of going to trial for child rape. I think maybe even the trial date was supposed to be yesterday. I never checked it on Snopes and haven't heard anything about it since election night (mostly heard about it the week before)....

From what I have read, the things that people forget/ignore are
a) it's a civil case, not a criminal one; anyone can bring a civil case against anyone
b) there are a bunch of fishy things about the case, including the fact that the plaintiff was acting as her own counsel, that she was filing it anonymously, and that she'd already had one suit dismissed for rather extreme filing abnormalities, like not being able to correctly state her own address.

I'm not saying that any of that is proof that the allegations are false. But it does serve to make them look not-very-serious.

I think the filibuster will stay for legislation specifically because McConnell has a strong suspicion (rightly or wrongly) that Trump is going down hard in 2020 and will likely take down Congressional majorities with him. The anti-Trump backlash will be quite strong, so keeping the filibuster in place will be bigly important. OTOH, I don't see the SCOTUS filibuster lasting because the Scalia replacement is seen as too important.

Depending on Trump's mood and/or cocaine intake that day, the Senate Republicans might join in filibustering Trump's nominee to replace Scalia.

Will he still get away with not-releasing his tax returns after he becomes president?

Her lawyer was Allred's daughter. It's was associated with Epstein, so not exactly incredible. She did file anonymously, but apparently had two other girls lined up to corroborate.

She did drop the suit, though, citing death threats to her and the law firm representing her.

I put it on a cautiously plausible level right now.

They won't be too interesting, as IIRC, your investments have to go into a blind trust. Though of course he's already said he'd monkey with that by giving stuff to his children.

His problem is that "blind trust" is pretty meaningless when his wealth is tied up in his brand.

But why would he have to release tax returns now? He won.

Presidents typically release their tax returns annually. And the blind trust thing is not a requirement, it's a tradition. Of course, Trump has pretty much shat an all of the former transparency traditions with no blowback, so no reason to change now.

This. He didn't play nice and won anyway, there's like nothing to stop him from doing anything.

To me, the whole anonymity + death threats thing still sounds fishy. If there were death threats, that's a serious crime itself. Any evidence of them, or just the plaintiff's say-so? Also, from what I have read, the corroborating statements were also anonymous.

The complainant is no longer anonymous. Beyond that, I don't know.

GOP is going to repeal Obamacare, but is indicating they will keep pre-existing condition coverage, children staying on their parents’ plan until 26, bans on lifetime caps and the Medicaid expansion. So they're going to keep the most unsustainable parts of Obamacare and jettison the stuff that gives it a modicum of sustainability. Remember what I said about the stink of touching health care? Ta-da!

I really wish we'd adopt the German system. It really seems to balance maintaining competition with universal coverage very well.

Isn't the German system essentially Obamacare plus Medicaid for all?

Except that the public part is administered through competing nonprofits, and everybody making a certain amount or above is on the private system. They're not trying to mix them.

Switzerland has Obamacare and I have heard bad things from them.

Are they keeping or repealing the individual mandate? The article says nothing either way, and therefore, nothing about subsidies for people who can't afford the mandate.
