I understand the consular security guards say Jamal Khashoggi made a 'furtive movement.'

In a shocking discussion that U.S. Congressman Joaquin Castro (D – TX) had with Poppy Harlow on CNN today, he claimed that there are reports that President Trump’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner may have given U.S. intelligence to the Saudi crown prince Mohammaed bin Salman, which in turn may have led to the alleged murder of U.S. resident and journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

I would say that I’d hate to be in the McKinsey comms shop after the NYT exposed that they dimed our social media dissidents who were either a) arrested b) harassed and had family members arrested (due to living abroad) or c) had their anonymous social media account shut down. The good thing is their customers are amoral and only care about brand.

Marco Rubio with the hottest take of all. The problem with the murder is that it disrespected Trump and Congresscritters like Marco Rubio.
Marco Rubio's terrible social media person wrote:The #KhashoggiMurder was immoral. But it was also disrepectful to Trump & those of us who have supported the strategic alliance with the Saudi’s. Not only did they kill this man, they have left @potus & their congressional allies a terrible predicament & given Iran a free gift.

Christ. I shudder to imagine what those poor guys must be going through right now -- forbidden to leave their prison shithole of a country, then required to engage in a shiny happy photo op with the son of a bitch who had their father murdered in an extra-horrible way.

Saudi sisters found bound in N.Y.C. were seeking asylum: Report
The sisters were reportedly seeking asylum in the U.S. and Saudi Arabia had ordered the family to return home.

Their bodies were discovered washed up on the rocks of a city park on Oct. 24. Police sources told the New York Daily News the pair had been bound together and their sandals duct-taped to their feet.

But they were wearing westernized clothes, including black leggings and fur coats — a no-no in the arch-conservative desert kingdom.

To ease Turkish pressure on Saudis over killing, White House weighs expelling Erdogan foe
WASHINGTON — The White House is looking for ways to remove an enemy of Turkish President Recep Erdogan from the U.S. in order to placate Turkey over the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, according to two senior U.S. officials and two other people briefed on the requests.

Trump administration officials last month asked federal law enforcement agencies to examine legal ways of removing exiled Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen in an attempt to persuade Erdogan to ease pressure on the Saudi government, the four sources said.

The effort includes directives to the Justice Department and FBI that officials reopen Turkey's case for his extradition, as well as a request to the Homeland Security Department for information about his legal status, the four people said.

They said the White House specifically wanted details about Gulen's residency status in the U.S. Gulen has a Green Card, according to two people familiar with the matter. He has been living in Pennsylvania since the late 1990s.

One of the many, many problems with both the American Empire and the war on terriers is having to appease guys like Erdogan so they'll play nice. Of course, Trump would do it anyway because he cartoon hearts strongman dictators.

Mind, that'd only be due to the luxury of distance: see the EU's treatment. if he were Enrique Erdogano, president of Mexico, even a pretty non-interventionist US would so much the same thing to avoid making economic waves..

Trump has found the real culprit in Jamal Kashoggi's murder: turns out it was you and me.
Asked who should be held responsible for Khashoggi's death, the president said Thursday, "Maybe the world should be held accountable because the world is a vicious place."

"So I hate the crime and I hate what is done and I hate the cover-up," Mr. Trump also said. "And I will tell you this, the crown prince hates it more than I do."
