to continue this theme:

in some ways adapting the past is a literal boner ghost; a reinvigoration of the popular objects during a target market's sexual awakening is attempting to resurrect the emotional connection to that sexual response of the past. hence why it's so annoying but relatively sticky, har har get it like jizz and whatever lady jizz is these days.

i am so good at this vacation thing.

So in this thread, we've had GnR reviled as lyrically trite.

Also, we've had support for "Happy".

From the same person.

Here's the thing. "Happy" is negated by "Achy Breaky Heart", but the question is, does "I'm Too Sexy" approach the shitshow that is "All About That Bass"?

What's odd is that I've actually seen an act on each list play live (and from the '92 list, a band fronted by a member of the first). Neither intentionally.

Also, this is clearly the best GnR song:

"I'm Too Sexy" can be put to ironic uses. "All About That Bass" is just a shitshow.

Here's a good song from 2000 (albeit a 2012 performance):

Actually, the singer goes by Boxer. It's a common mistake.

Worse. OneRepublic.

*They're apparently a Denver-based band, so they played at a snowboarding competition that I took the snackstealer to a few years ago.

I missed "Get Lucky", which is to "Jump Around" as "November Rain" is to "Happy".

I guess. If I have to.

"Get Lucky" does indeed occupy a niche similar to that of "Jump Around."

"Happy" is more like...fuck, I dunno? *Checks chart* "All 4 Love", which was truly craptacular. It's nothing like "November Rain." At least the central metaphor of "November Rain" is kind of evocative, and the solo (though long) is excellent (and the refrain is also good).

I don't know what you infants are talking about, but "Get Lucky" was Loverboy's smash hit album.

I've covered this already. It's "Achy Brakey Heart". By the way, both years are infested with the Cyrus.

"Achy Breaky" was annoyingly catchy. "Happy" is just annoying. Like "All 4 Love."

But Sandy makes a good point about the Weird Al parody. "All 4 Love" doesn't have that going for it.

Kristen Schaall(sp), who's done some Daily Show, and various other things, I think Flight of the Concords?

Ah. Only one 'l'. Also, when googling to determine that, because I'm bored enough to care how to spell someone's name, I re-found* the 2013 edition of this strange British celebrity year-in-review quiz type show that inexplicably had a weirdly nasal American comedian as a guest (it's Kristen Schaal, if that wasn't clear). It gets kind of adorablawesome around the 7:50 mark.

*I'd actually wasted some time last year watching some of these on youtube.

OneRepublic is good!

OneDirection is a shitshow. As are all things Megan Trainor (coming to an Ohio State Fair near you!)

My Spanish teacher loved that song and Billy Ray. It made me want to go back in time and kill his mother.
