It's only on by default for the first day. After that the Bing-esque background will be gone. There's a white background under Editor's choice.

Aha. I changed to the white background (although it wouldn't work in FF3.6.3 for some reason). Still annoying.

Seeing a diferent background every time you visit Google is like seeing a different car sitting in your driveway every time you come home.

Apparently, they've already changed that; it just comes up plain for me, with an option to change it.

Mind, I rarely look at the initial search page - I just open a new tab and type what I'm searching for.

I like using it to search for travel because I like their implementation of FareCast.

Exactly.

In a country of 300,000,000 that figure is simply not significant.

World Cup spoilers. Select to read.

A 3-2 win over Slovakia is awesome. Having it recorded as a 2-2 tie is shitty.

The "University of Vierginia" is pretty shitty proof reading by anyone's standards, let alone Nature Biotechnology's.

Although I can think of at least one misspelling of "Virginia" that would be worse.
