How are the brit press covering trump? I'm hoping for snide dickery.
There's this one issue of the Economist I've saved for the cover art: remember that Miley Cyrus "Wrecking ball" thing from a few years ago? It's that, only with Cyrus replaced by a cartoon caricature of Trump. (The "wrecking ball" on the cover is smashing various longstanding US alliances, IIRC.)
I think this is the one you mean.

Yep, that's it! Heh, I didn't even remember the ball actually being the Earth. (That issue is currently stashed away in the same box as holds the issue with the infamous "This book about American slavery is propaganda rather than history, because the author obviously has the preconceived notion that slavery was bad" book review.)

So, remember how the Trump campaign pushed hard for changes in platform language on Ukraine in 2016? A lot of that was the work of a guy named J.D. Gordon, who has said different things at different times about whether Trump wanted it.

https://www.npr.org/2017/12/04/56831079 ... ne-support

Interestingly, J.D. Gordon took Maria Butina to a Styx concert in 2016.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics ... story.html

I'm sure that this is the only revelation we'll get concerning Gordon and Russian spies. There's no way that Gordon will be shown to have had additional contacts with Russian agents.

They look so obviously guilty that they must be innocent. Guilty people would collude with Russia but not be seen in public doing it. Only innocent men would hang out with Russian honey traps.

Manafort is pleading guilty to witness tampering and conspiracy. The plea document includes extensive details about his lobbying for Ukrainian politicians aligned with Russia.

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/09/ ... eal-823882

When a lobbyist for a pro-Moscow politician shows up to work on the campaign of a guy who's helped Russians launder money, that isn't a coincidence.

Well they better get something good out of him because so far the case has been pretty underwhelming.

So underwhelming that in the trial we just had, he got nailed on 8 charges and had the jury split 11-1 against him on the other 10?

This thing is supposed to be about determing whether Trump or others colluded with Russia in the last campaign right? Manafort getting cash from Russia isn't news to anyone. I mean it's great he's going to prison but it proves nothing other than Trump hangs out with sleazy people. Again something everyone already knows.

Well, he's going to be cooperating with Mueller.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/na ... e81aba86d8

Look, I'm sure that Trump is completely innocent and it is all a mere coincidence that he has lots of wealthy Russian real estate clients, that a lobbyist for Victor Yanukovich managed his campaign, that Felix Sater worked for Trump and helped deliver policy proposals from pro-Moscow politicians in Ukraine, that the GRU hacked the DNC, and that when a Russian government representative showed up offering dirt his son said "Great! Let's meet!" rather than "Let's call the FBI." I'm sure that this is all a coincidence, and that Manafort is only cooperating to help Mueller get some small fish who helped him cheat on taxes.

Yeah I suspect that psychopaths have in-group/out-group associations and react to fucking with the in-group in a way that looks like outrage at cruelty when it's really outrage at disrespect to the ingroup.
