Re: Putin on the Writs

We vote on too *few* offices, but ballot measures, bond referenda, and state constitutional amendments are a waste of time.

Re: Putin on the Writs

Regardless of the source of the malfunction, I've never understood what is wrong with simple paper ballots. Analog backup, lots of transparency, unhackable. Paper ballots are fine when you are voting for one position (e.g. in a Westminister Style Parliamentary election), but when you are voting for...

Re: Occam, Trump, and Russia

Most of the ex-Soviet states get along fine with Moscow. The Baltics are the big exception; Georgia and Ukraine are smaller exceptions to the extent that their attitude towards Moscow shift with internal political shifts. (most of the other ex-Soviet states have been constant autocrats, so that hasn...

(Leaving India & Pakistan outside the framework is both necessary and proper). Can you unpack that a bit? My brain is getting foggy and I'm kind of confused. They're not quite ready to sit at the big kids table (even though on paper, theoretically they should be), and their feud with each other is ...

Re: Occam, Trump, and Russia

There is a case to be made for a ctrl alt del of all the cold war and bi-lat US - Russia agreements to be replaced by a new stately quadrille arms control framework with the USA, Russia, China, & the EU as signatories. Though leaving both Japan & Korea outside that framework - with China in - is pro...

Re: Home $weet Home

Here's a wheeled tiny house for only $9,500, including microwave oven, flat-screen TV, queen-size bed and similar furnishings. It would make a really cool backyard playhouse for a rich little kid, and if you're the trailer-camping type that's actually cheaper than what most used camper-trailers of ...

Re: Occam, Trump, and Russia

There has though been a longstanding skepticism of *all* the 20th century US-USSR/Russia arms control treaties from the Greater Bolton wing of the Republican party. It's why New START took forever to ratify, and almost wasn't.

So what Arsen just said.

There's been this thing that post from people you don't follow still pop up in your feed because people you *do* follow either liked it and/or just follow that account.
It's possible that's how your post came to Bario's attention.

Re: Our Friends, The House of Saud

A Saudi newspaper describes Khashoggi's death as a comedy, and also it is somehow Qatar's fault. (This is what they're publishing in the English language; I shudder to imagine what they're saying in newspapers the typical American doesn't know how to read.) http://saudigazette.com.sa/article/545845...

I find it interesting that CNBC believes that their audience knows who Grover Norquist and Joe Arpaio are, but Ron Jeremy needs context.
Apparantly Hof is still going to be on the ballot for the state leg seat he was running for, and will likely win due to the partisan lean of the district.
