Re: The Enemy of My Enemy

Basically GTFO with this idea that you are somehow defending Trump and Falwell when getting concerned about NYT writer’s fucking lying through their teeth that an op ed put their lives in danger because of their blackness so they can assert control over content and how gosh that sure does sound like...

Real talk, POTUS tweeting about people who should be fired not only doesn’t hurt those people it helps them considerably and everyone involved knows it.

Caught 2 so far using enclosed hide the crime traps because wife. The evidence is it isn't that many and they occupy the space between the back of the fridge backing up to the garage wall, and the pantry right next to it. Sealing door keeps them out of pantry.

Re: The Enemy of My Enemy

I mean for one thing I hated Falwell and those guys too, so this isn't haha Jason finally gets what he has coming to him, this is haha Jason used to be asked to bend the knee from one side and is now being asked to bend the knee facing the other direction but somehow that's supposed to be not that b...

Re: The Enemy of My Enemy

I think my last Pledge was in like 5th grade. Regardless if we are saying the movement itself and institutions supporting it are engaging in Falwellian religious activity, I completely agree with that but I'm surprised it counts as an excuse.

Re: The Enemy of My Enemy

I’ll say again I never ever had mandatory patriotism classes at work and I find it somewhat bizarre in a mission sense to compare Falwell to the NYT. I mean we can do that but don’t start telling me things about NYT credibility being so much greater and don’t tell me anything about this being a prin...

Re: The Enemy of My Enemy

So, if they called it a boycott and framed it in economic terms, would you still be saying it portends some beast slouching toward the Student Union building waiting to be born? I'd have to see what that looks like. Right now it's "be on board or we are going to use every tool in our bag to make yo...

Re: The Enemy of My Enemy

Oh man it’s making me grumpier the longer I think about it. This absurd use of “associative freedom” as though it were a competing value with free speech. Uh, you totally don’t believe that because you specifically target associative freedom if anyone you don’t like. It’s a principle that only opera...

Re: The Enemy of My Enemy

That is a long piece. What strikes me more than anything else is the perception that the tactics of the identity left have "won". There will be a reckoning at some point between what people say out of the public eye and what they say in the public eye given that the entire project is to engage in fr...

Mask wearing is an almost perfect signalling gesture regardless of efficacy, so there was no hope. It was always going to be sports barred. It's visible, it's memeable, it lends to haha see these people are hypocrites, those people are bad people etc etc. It rubs people the wrong way as a kind of co...

TIL Herman Cain was still alive. I thought his disappearance from public life was somehow connected to collateral damage from PizzaGate or something but no, still out there. For the moment.

Peterson is a profoundly weird dude. I can't decide if he is so invested in his model he sees in in action everywhere of if he's just a running a con. His whole choosing his words very carefully thing operates in a context of if you already have signed up for his whole program you know what these wo...

Re: Inequality

The purchaser of a distressed property has a decision to make about rehab or tear down. How do I determine if the property is distressed? What's the purchase price? If it's low, there's probably a reason. Long term value is to be analyzed in a "compared to what other use of funds" approach. The inve...

Re: Inequality

It's clever and not the worse use of funds I've seen. Curious what it would cost, but i like the over all approach, especially the recognition of the role of time and accumulation in a base "participating in the economy" rate of interest can play to solve some of the weirdness of allocating across g...

Re: Inequality

The productivity levers of the correct technology decisions are incredibly potent in 2020. I'm not sure there is any decision to be made by a GM executive a generation ago that has the value return that say Amazon pivoting into business cloud with AWS has had. So there's a fairly intense spread of o...

I agree with most all of that, except that I think it's very hard to say up front what the value of a CEO is to a company and what they "should" be paid. I agree that malfeasance is an issue that should get some attention through carefully crafted (haha) law. I agree that culture and benefits and co...

Bain doesn't show up if the entity in question isn't on life support. What you are objecting to really is the final blow in a decline that should probably have taken less time to play out. Selling off pieces is entirely the right thing to do with Sears.
