Re: Comics

I would much much much rather see this gig go to Joss Whedon than Straczynski. Not that the latter can't write. But strong female characters, good central conflicts, and mindfulness about continuity are hallmarks of Joss Whedon's writing. Whedon seems to need ensemble casts. He'd have to pretty muc...

Re: The world is moving to the beat of one fewer drum.

I will say one thing in Byrd's favor: He opposed the Iraq invasion. Whether that was because it was being done by a Team Red president or from sincere principal is irrelevant. On that issue, he did the right thing. If they had agreed to fly the bombing missions out of a base in West Virginia, named...

Ah, well, my point was that eliminating the minimum wage, OSHA regulations and whatnot from all those cushy overpaid minimum wage jobs would level the playing field. But maybe not. *shrug* With luck, we're only a generation away from robot field hands, anyway. Well, yeah, but the other thing that w...

I know that "Reasonable expectation of privacy" is a term with a specific meaning in law. Is part of the issue here that you are speaking in legal language and the others aren't? No, I'm just using the legal jargon to express my non-legal opinion here. The phrase is part of the rule as to whether a...

The other night I watched Black Sheep , which is a black comedy from New Zealand about horribly mutated sheep that turn people into ravening were-sheep when they bite them. Very gory, very silly, and very funny. Is this the one with Pappy Boyington in it? Yeah, the climactic love scene between Boyi...

Marathon Tennis match ends after 11 hours. The American Isner comes out on top: 6-4; 3-6; 6-7; 7-6; 70-68 Awesome. Pffffffffft :P I've played longer games. Of course that was years ago. And it was table tennis. But still. I've played longer games too, but it's similarly been a while, and it was D&D.

It doesn't help that the Gulf is actually just America's bathtub. Re: Holy Crap that was a good game!

Slovenia's first goal against us was on a fast counter attack. We'd just made a drive on their goal, and they got the ball, got it back up field, and scored in just seconds. One end to the other. It was about as fast as a break-out 2-on-1 in hockey, or even a lot of fast breaks in basketball. Also, ...
