Re: Fables of the Reconstruction, or Construction Time Again

After that, get architect started on plans and estimates so we can get a construction loan. Wade through all the crap left on the property and decide what stays and what goes. Call a tow company about the car left half on my property and half on the vacant property next door. You can't just get the...

Also lived cable-free until I was in my mid 20s. I'm not sure I've seen any of his big screen stuff, certainly not all the way through. He was kind of ubiquitous in certain small-screen guest-spot circles in the '80s though.

Re: The Well-Dressed Man

I am normally pretty far on the casual side of "Whatever, man, times change! People wear comfy clothing now! No need to dress up every time you go out in public and fly on an airplane or whatever! Big deal!" But when I was waiting for a traffic court hearing the other day I was the only person not ...

Re: Debate: Be an Anarchist, Not a Minarchist

Why should trash pickup be privatized but not policing? Because whoever controls the biggest and most guns is the government even if you chose to call it something else. And enforcing the law is necessarily a government activity. Yeah, there are perverse incentives and I'm still deeply skeptical th...

Re: The Sheriff Joe Arpaio Memorial Prison Reform Thread

Ducey is up for reelection in Nov. Appointing Joe gets him nothing since Maricopa County (3.8 million vs 3.2 million in rest of state) has proven it's already very tired of Joe. And the rest of the state is more Blue leaning than Maricopa County (so even more anti-Joe). A younger Team Red guy who i...

This is probably a super common one: "In the records, it described this beer and its techniques, which peaked the interest of the Larsons." (from an article on Alaskan Amber) That is (unique to this thread I might add) an actual lion tow in that "peaked" is the correct spelling and those that spell...

I wanna say our wafers were oyster crackers. I also wanna say we only did communion on Christmas and Easter and for confirmations, but I am fuzzy on the whole thing as the last time I was there was probably 1986 or so.

Arpaio is dead , politically at least. Dude you got my hopes up. Well, let me squash them. He could be appointed to fill McCain's seat. Gov. Ducey is fully a Trump guy and I don't see, from an evil shit perspective, any reason NOT to put ol' Joe in there... Sent from my SM-J727T1 using Tapatalk Yea...

FWIW, it's not only the crazy-evangelical Protestant churches that go for grape juice instead of wine: the [generally liberal and progressive] United Methodist Church I was dragged to as a child also did this. I don't think that was an "anti-alcohol" move so much as a combination of "Grape juice is...

It completely misrepresents the Vox post The Vox post really is deeply stupid. I actually first heard about it from a left-liberal friend, not Reason, but in googling to find the actual story, Reason's take popped up. ETA: And part of the blame on that falls on Vox's headline writers/editors. Hell,...

Heel outsole came off of my venerable white new balance tennis shoes that I wear with my cargo shorts, so I had to go buy some new general-purpose athletic/tennis shoes. I don't get the joke windows ten is pretty decent. More importantly, starting with Windows 8 it will no longer just tell you you need...
