Re: Op-ediots

So this is doubly funny. David French is so Christian that he's upset that Thanksgiving is no longer the most important holiday to Americans, but insufficiently Christian to believe that Easter is the most important Christian holiday. Granted, I'm married to a weekly churchgoing Catholic and went t...

Re: Thanksgiving: the most delicious time of the year

I did successfully manipulate the host of our friendsgiving celebration into mentioning that man roast beef is tasty and now I can bring a goddamned rib roast like God intended when he was still alive.

Re: Thanksgiving: the most delicious time of the year

So I can order eight thousand veggie samosas from Holy Land Deli and still be celebrating the true spirit of Thanksgiving tomorrow? I celebrated TurkeyNotpreciationDay* at a Salvadoran place back in the day for reasons I don't recall. Or rather I don't recall why we were eating out rather than cook...

Serious eats method- boil, smash into pucks, pan fry in flavorful fat, bit of lemon and herbs. Lots of salt. Lemon juice or lemon zest? Am just starting to do potato work beyond 'bake' and 'mash' so I'm inexperienced on that front. Edit: I'm not familiar with using acid with potatoes. Edit my Edit:...

At most restaurants it's just a slight variation on naan. Have been to one place where it was really quite different and very good but it was in the '90s in South Carolina, so I haven't been there in 20 years and it's gone now and it could've been something other than roti.

(Also, while the chicken was nice, the pork ramen is just so much better...) Getting back to the meat (har, har) of this tangent, tonkotsu is a sublime dish. I've only had it prepared professionally once but it was 1000 times better than anything I could do in my kitchen. It's also 'Western' enough...

Wunderground just served up an ad for the Rotimatic. A breadmaker/Easybake oven for making roti right in your own home. Just USD 999 for one or two units.

One of the many, many problems with both the American Empire and the war on terriers is having to appease guys like Erdogan so they'll play nice. Of course, Trump would do it anyway because he cartoon hearts strongman dictators. Don't support the War on Terriers https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...

You may be right about Beto. Even so, Cruz is a shit sandwich.
Yeah, that puts a thumb on the scale in Beto's favor where there are two thumbs in Cruz's favor, so yeah, one shouldn't read too much into that. If Beto'd managed that showing against Cornyn, it'd be a different calculus, to be sure.

(I'd say the same thing about Gillum: he's going to lose Florida by half a point and that's going to be positive and impressive). Florida isn't Texas. Losing by a half a point to a shitty Red in Florida is like losing to a shitty Red by ten points in Texas. Close second against incredible odds is o...

Beto failed in exactly the way Hillary failed: Epically to a truly revolting opponent.
