Hey, there are many ACTUAL Russians out there who could play that role. How dare you be so culturally insensitive?
Yakov Smirnov, for example!

Re: Orange is the new President

You actually have a point there, for once. If Trump had been given a cameo in Endgame he might have replaced half his Cabinet with Avengers. More likely, we'd now have Attorney General Black Dwarf, Secretary of Defense Proxima Midnight, Secretary of the Treasury Corvus Glaive and Secretary of Homel...

Re: I don't wanna see that!!!!

I did not know there was a new Top Gun movie coming out. What is the point? I mean, I know one can ask that of all Hollywood remakes. But really, really, what is the POINT of this one? Ugh. In theory, it could be an interesting meditation on American foreign policy that had purpose and passion (and...

I don't know if this is lion-towing, but I heard 'it's not cast in stone' today, and it sounds really wrong.
It's a common error.

Re: Twitter!

I peeked in on Twitter and saw that the hashtag #MuellerIsComing is trending. Even after clicking on it I'm not totally sure what's up. I thought the whole Mueller report was done and in the past? What is happening now? It played so well in the Blue States that they're turning it into a teen comedy...

The largest demographic wealth gap is between the young and the old.
Because if you don't inherit wealth, the longer you have to accrue it, the more of it you have.

Re: Inequality

It's certainly more likely that someone, say, over 50 will have paid off the mortgage, have a six figure IRA or 401(K) retirement account, etc., than someone in his 30s. You don't have to have paid off the mortgage, though. People in my generation tended to move from a condo to a townhouse to a sing...

Re: The Right Way to View Competing Political Horrors

I'm fine with saying Democrats, on average and especially out of power, are the lesser of the Two Evil Parties. As always, it nonetheless bears pointing out that they both want our money and they both want to tell us what we can and cannot do with our lives and, as always, it's just a matter of who ...

Re: Orange is the new President

First, there's truly no point in impeaching a president if it's a given ahead of time the Senate won't vote to remove him. Second, I have lived to see impeachment hearings and, as entertaining as they were, they did more harm than good. Third, they'd do more harm than good now. That could change, bu...

[Sigh] The English language needs a word to describe "that sinking, stifling feeling you get when the AC is on and has been all day, yet when you look at the thermostat you notice the internal temperature is several degrees higher than where you set it." I can't believe I have to buy shoe/boot laces off amazon. I just got back from the big Walmart where their style/size selection was extremely limited, and not at all what I was looking for. So I went the the shoe store a block farther down. Got that? A fricking shoe store. Their selection was even ...
