Re: Corona(virus)? ITS NOT EVEN BEER DAMMIT!!!

If it's happening in India, it's happening in Pakistan. If it's happening in India and Pakistan, it's a given that India is blaming Pakistan and Pakistan is blaming India. If nothing else, it's further proof that a people who believe either in a glorious afterlife or reincarnation should probably no...

Obama’s FP was wrong, but it was wrong within normal parameters. Aside from the sketchy stuff Trump did mentioned above, there’s also the ending of anti-proliferation treaties.
Summarily executing American citizens from some secret kill list isn't within normal parameters.

More about USPS outright sabotage of shipping: Ah, so it's not just me, then. My package tracking information has not changed since my last update. I realized this morning that if, instead of mailing the book, they'd just hidden the book in the underbrush near that Nevada post office, and I had sim...

Tip for looking things up in the future: in some (all?) Spanish dialects, "b" and "v" are essentially pronounced the same. They were probably saying "Santa vino" which means "Santa came."
I thought that was Santa ha corrido.

Re: Rand Paul.....sigh.

And now Rand Paul has called for NY Governor Cuomo's impeachment . Apparently nothing Trump has done is worthy of impeachment, but Cuomo's decisions - flawed as they may have been - are. Paul, a physician... Paul, an opthamologist, not an epidemiologist or infectious disease specialist of any kind....

I don't know what others look for or like in podcasts, but I like the Fifth Column podcast because I vaguely know, if only by reputation and writing, most of the participants, they've created an appropriately free-wheeling format one could imagine happening at pretty much any bar in America and they...

Re: Calling 2020 for Entropy

Kmele's thing is "There's no such thing as race" he never says "there's no such thing as racism" as his contention is that 'race is an invention of racists'. Which sound self contradictory, but if you listen to him expound on it, it's consistent and coherent. It's entirely meaningless. Race is just...

Re: Whither the GOP? (post-Trump edition)

This is a question for DAR, were Democrats similarly pissy and dismissive of Reagan Democrats or did they try to actually win them over? Though I guess primarying Carter kinda answers that question. I thought Clinton - Southern, DLC - was the explicitly a plan to regain some Regan Democrats. The DL...

Why do they need John Yoo? Bill Barr is happy to just say "Whatever I / Trump want to do is legal. Who's gonna stop me?" Because if you don't get an endorsement of your policy by Toddler-Testicle-Crushin' Yoo, what's even the point of being president? Plus, he's courting the Asian fascist vote.

Okay, but a teenager on probation. Was her PO probably overzealous? Almost certainly. But in context this isn't about just any kid not doing her homework.

Can we at least agree that boiled hot dogs are an abomination? I hated hot dogs for decades. I'm fairly certain that the trauma of boiled hot dogs are why. In the same way one can occasionally get a craving for McDonalds, I think anyone who grew up or worked in a major city can't help but occasiona...

Re: Calling 2020 for Entropy

One of my favorite theories about 2016 is that the election of Obama effectively communicated to low-information voters which party was the pro-black-people party. And thus it solidified the racist/white-ethnic voting bloc for the Republicans, when a lot of them hadn't really registered the racial ...

Re: Calling 2020 for Entropy

I think a lot also depends on what happens to Trumpers afterward. If the AG uncovers crimes and goes after them, is their a partisan backlash or is there some sort of long term memory holing because “we got rid of the bad ones.” On the other hand if there’s a “look forward, not backward” does one s...

I differentiate for no particular reason between condiments such as mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, etc. and toppings such as cheese, onions, peppers, etc. I do actually prefer ordinary yellow mustard on ordinary Hebrew National hotdogs and anyone who doesn't like it can promptly fuck off. Chopped oni...

Meta political question: is some of the left's, um, excesses simply a reaction to Trump such that if Trump loses sanity returns in some degree? Meta meta political question: Or, is the lesson going to be that this is how you deal with opposition and the next Romney-esque moderate or any random asso...

A good hot dog is good. Also, a good hot dog involves no ketchup.
Mustard is the only acceptable condiment for sausages, period.

Also, sure, there are good hotdogs but they're not what get thrown on the Weber 90+% of the time because the kids are going to eat them. With ketchup.

One particularly unpleasant October Surprise occurred to me: Pence becomes #46 in October through benefit of COVID-19 and wins on November 3rd on a sympathy vote. If Pence is the candidate, he loses in a romp. None of those Trump voters will turn out for Pence, so he'll be left with the Republicans...

To address this burning issue in philosophical terms, Hanson's disease may not be Hanson's Disease.

And the reason for hotdogs is small children who, inexplicably, prefer them to hamburgers, let alone actual, um, well, you know, barbecue.
